My JOEMENTEM prediction! If Holy Joe loses the primary I believe
the all but unknown repug will be forced to withdraw from the race. That will leave a one on one battle between Ned and Holy Joe with Holy Joe getting all the repug most of the Indies and some conservative Dem's. Holy Joe wins a close race with the help of the shrub and company and either switches party or votes with the repugs all the time. He will owe his political life to the shrub and
the repugs and he will become as much a lapdog and McCain.

1. He's an undeclared lapdog already. If he wins, he can declare.

9. Actually, he's already pledged to caucus with the Dems no matter what
Lieberman's an accomodater, certainly, but I don't think he's ever been shown to lie about how he'd vote. He may be slippery sometimes, but he is good for his word.

13. But of course he IS running as a Democrat. A Dem we don't agree with, but
still a Democrat. I'm not happy with Lieberman either, but I just don't see any point in this partisan McCarthyism.

2. interesting idea-- I wonder if Lieberman was promised "support..."
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 09:26 PM by mike_c
...if he agreed to stay in the race as an independent if he loses the primary? He's really presenting himself as a self-serving ass.

4. Why would Joe get most of the indies?
Joe = shrub; most of the indies are anti-shrub. Again, why do you think Joe would hold most of the indies?

(By the way, I'm not being confrontational. I'm just curious why you say this)

6. I think He will get the Indies because most of them are just conservatives
who want to smoke pot and are pro choice. Joe fits their beliefs well.

12. Bwahaha!
I just had a vision of Holy Joe lighting up a joint and saying "Damn that Ned Lamont! He's ruining my buzz. Where's Karl?"

5. I disagree with that
IMHO the Repugs will see a golden chance to get a new Senator. They will expect the Dem votes to split and that could make their party a winner.

8. That could happen but why take a chance if they get Joe it's as
good as a win and again I can hear him now at the repug convention in 2008 declaring how the Dem's left him. It will be Zell 2 attack of the traitorous Dems

7. I don't think so.
You might not have thought of this, but if you were a Republican candidate in this race, with the opposition party divided, would you withdraw and let the Dems have a guaranteed win? Or, would you look at this as a golden opportunity to exploit the division and put another Senator into the "R" column?

Considering that, do you still think that the Repug is going to withdraw if both Ned and Joe are on the ballot?

10. A no name repug will get offered a job in the shrub administration
which will pay more in bribes and prepare him for his life as a multi million dollar lobbyist. If he gets a call from the shrub and is told the RNC will not back him in his run, he really will have no choice. Look at Katherine Harris in Florida, that is what happens when you disobey the powers that be.
