Democrat Al Gore, President George W. Bush's rival in the 2000 presidential election, accused him of breaking the law by authorizing a domestic spying program.

"What we do know about that pervasive wiretapping virtually compels the conclusion that the president of the United States has been breaking the law repeatedly and consistently," Gore said during an event honoring Martin Luther King Jr. here.

Speaking on the US public holiday honoring the slain civil rights hero, the former vice president noted that King was himself the target of secret FBI wiretaps for several years.

"It is especially important to recall that for the last several years of his life, Doctor King was illegally wiretapped, one of the hundred of thousands of Americans whose private communications were intercepted by the US government during that period," Gore said.

It was in part due to those wiretaps that Congress adopted a law requiring the government to obtain a court order to spy on people in the United States, said Gore, president Bill Clinton's number two from 1993 to 2001.

9. That explains it. I am on Firefox. I lost a computer due to IE and

its weak security. I got nothing but popups and had to get rid of my entire computer. It could not be repaired. It just became so filled that I could not even turn it on. Now I subscribe to every security system I can get my hands on.
