In response, Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman said Gore is "more interested in desperately trying to get attention than he is in focusing on the facts and the law."

9. So a guy who was VP for 8yrs....
and arguably stripped of his Presidential term is the attention whore??? Gore I hear from several times a YEAR (and seldom on so important a subject) but the bleatings of a clown never elected to national office that I hear from at each Republican transgression-THAT I should attach gravitas to???

11. RNC tries to label Gore as "angry", "desperate" and implies he is
unhinged. They must be afraid of him. He is speaking the truth clearly and with emotion-something they haven't seen from the Dems.

14. That's it - as I expected.
They simply cannot refute the content of the speech because they have NOTHING. How could anyone argue with that speech? Instead, they make it personal. Gore isn't desperate and certainly doesn't need attention.

The whiny little crybaby repugs need to get a clue. :nopity:

That's the lamest response to having one's shit called that I've ever heard.

"He just wants attention."

Duh, of course he wants attention, you guys are destroying our Democracy with your profound idiocy and disregard for the law.

22. don't underestimate their mastery of a meme
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 05:06 PM by kineta
which is what they are trying to do here. The AP article (Gore Assails Domestic Wiretapping Program) published in *a lot* of papers has a whole paragraph near the top of the article quoting an RNC spokeswoman "Al Gore's incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day.." etc...

The idea is to turn the argument away from the substance of Gore's speech to a discussion (and ridicule) of his motivations.

This is how they do things and it seems to work every time. By the end of the day I won't be surprised if that discussion/argument makes its way to DU

34. Sure, Gore wants people to watch him.
Since the administration continually defends their right to illegally watch ALL OF US, all the time, I don't see why they have a problem with that.

And WHAT law? You don't need no steeenkeen law, right, Ken?

35. Considering he didn't get much coverage except on
C-SPAN, what attention is he getting? Another Puke said he's "always" doing this because he craves the spotlight. Er, this is the first time we have seen him really speak out since the stolen election of 2000, so how is it that he's "always" doing this?

These nutjobs are swimming in their own verbal puke.

37. What does Ken Mehlman & Bush's spy scandal have in common?
Bush had the NSA wiretap and data mine U.S. citizens, without any oversight.

Remember right after the 2004 Election? Ken Mehlman was on all the talk shows bragging about how successful they were at targeting voters like companies target consumers, by data mining.

Was Ken Mehlman bragging about a successful NSA covert operation, that benefited BushCo?
