RNC Response to Today's Speech by Al Gore; Gore Takes Aim at Bush Administration's Efforts to Fight the War On Terror

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is the RNC response to today's speech by Al Gore:

"Al Gore's incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day is almost as glaring as his lack of understanding of the threats facing America. While the President works to protect Americans from terrorists, Democrats deliver no solutions of their own, only diatribes laden with inaccuracies and anger." --Tracey Schmitt, RNC Press Secretary

...

Once Upon A Time, Gore Talked Tough About Cracking Down On Terrorists:

In 1999, Vice President Gore Declared: "Hear Me Well - We Will Fight The Reckless Violence Of Terrorism And We Will Never Yield To Terrorism, Ever." (Joe Carroll, "Clinton Exhorts Parties to Surmount Last Hurdle," The Irish Times, 3/18/99)

At A 1996 Counter-Terrorism Event Gore Said: "The Bottom Line Is That President Clinton And I And The Members Of This Commission Have Pledged To The Families Of The Victims Of Terrorism That We're Going To Take The Strongest Measures Possible To Reduce The Risk Of Another Tragedy In The Future." (Al Gore, White House Briefing, 9/5/96)

1. That's all they have, huh?
Hilarious!

Sounds to me that Gore is still very down with getting rid of terrorists. And the first stop is to rid our current administration of them!

Go Al!

Al Bore? Not on your life! Best speech ever!

16. Yeah...
...Gore doesn't play favorites when it comes to terrorists. They all have to go, in his book, even the ones operating from the shelter of our own government.

Matt

4. Totally random response..
has nothing to do with nothing.

They can't speak to the issues... because they
are so implicated in all this illegal activity.
They are crooks that need to be stopped.

BTW.. what's the Chimp slurring about on TV now...
he can barely read his own speech

5. They have the gall to say that Democrats offer no solutions?
They must not want their sheeple to listen to the speech and especially to Gores' 5 point plan to take back our government.

6. And Gore is being true to his word

But those measures never ever ever including putting himself or anyone else above the Law. Either we are a Nation of Law or we are not there is no middle ground. He also co-authored the Rudman-Gore Report on Terrorism that was placed on Bush*'s desk Jan 20th 2001 and the Bush* Cabal ignored them in totality..

7. Screwin' the pooch again
First, Al Gore is a private citizen. The RNC should have simply ignored him. Instead, it raised Gore to the level of President-In-Exile.

Second, Gore's "incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day" comes approximately twice a year. Tracey Schmitt should have such incessant needs.

Third, and most glaring, is the repetition of the Bush Administration's mantra, "Dissent Helps The Terr'ists". Ri-i-ight. And Jesus is a Republican, too.

They're idiots. Gore can outclass them simply by showing up and smiling for the cameras.

8. "Understanding the threats facing America"
VP Gore does a great job of understanding said threat. bush and his base are the greatest threat facing America. And please ms schmitt your press release is read by others than your gaggle of lemmings so you have to be specific when you mention "inaccuracies." Its common knowledge that your base will believe anything you tell them but rational, intelligent, constitution loving Americans don't fit into that category; so to play the sophomore high school debate card, "if you assert you must prove." So please share with us all those inaccuracies - BITCH!

9. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised...

...that they are still quoting Clinton's FISA memo completely out of context, depite being called out on that lie over a month ago.

13. boys and girls, moms and dads, truth simply is not in the GOP vocab.
They care not about being caught in a lie. It is the perception they wish to create - one of attack, of Dems being at fault.
They have NEVER cared whether they are right or wrong. It is only us and indies and moderates who are "hung up" on facts and data. Not to worry, it will come back to haunt them.

It can be done, too. Look at how well Dean did with the GOP spin on Abramof. Except for the Public Editor of NYT and ombudsman of WaPoo, everyone figured it out. Even the National Review admitted the truth. (faster and more accurately than NYT)

10. Anger, yes, inaccuracies--no.
As for solutions, well, how about, we'd like the war on terror to be lawfully and effectively carried out. Preferably by someone not Bush.

14. Not yeilding to terror
What they never acknowledge is that perhaps, maybe, there are ways to fight terror that don't look anything like what Bush Co. is doing.

"I thought we might fight terror by waging an unnecessary war, thereby creating more of what we're trying to fight." Yeah, that's a plan.

How about cutting off their funds? How about diplomacy? How about treating the problem as internation crime instead of trying to fight a concept? How about just not fucking up the whole thing royally?

That's about as stereotypical of a response as you're going to get from the repukes.
