The lack of media coverage or comment is proof of what Gore said --
voices of dissent are very difficult to hear in this country. We have come that far in the alarming transformation he is trying to tell the people about. It is truly frightening that a national dialogue on our Constitutional crisis, it seems, may not happen. Most of the press fails us, maybe our educational system has failed us by turning out citizens who neither know nor care about our Constitution and our system as we've known it.

Shame on 24-hour "news" networks who will neither air this speech, or convey its meaning, to their citizen viewers!

2. Exactly what media's been doing to Dems since 9-11. Muting their voices,
muting their issues, and ignoring the facts of their policy proposals.

7. That's exactly right. Sadly, post 9/11, the neo-cons were very successful
in sending the word out that any criticism of BushCo was unpatriotic.

What I would like for them to know, is that criticism of BushCo would have been the greatest rebuke to the events of 9/11. Because it truly would have let other countries see that we are indeed a democracy, and that even when you have grievances against your government, you are entitled to speak out.

3. what is worse is that people pay between $50-120 a month for a TV
that brings them propaganda. Which is why I only pay for Basic Cable at $12 a month, I realize I am better off reading the newspapers on line or getting my info elsewhere so that I won't be making Comcast or even Dish networks any wealthier.

5. I get my news from the internet
The MSM is owned by corporations who manipulate the news. There is no real journalism or investigative reporting. There are only a few hard core investigative journalists (Sy Hersch to name one, I am sure there are more) out there. If corporations get hold of Blogs and the internet, we are really fucked.

8. Write the Bastards -- REALLY
The right wing got the media to take them more seriously by endless pissing and moaning nd badgering them about "liberal bias." It's time for us to put the squeeze on them from our side.

9. the ONLY solution is to QUIT PAYING THEM...
....just writing to them only encourages their collusion....hit them where it hurts...in their bottom lines...that is THE only thing they'll ever PAY attention to.

14. They bought the media outlets...and transformed them in their image
it had nothing to do with a big grassroots campaign...it had everything to do with Rupert Murdoch and Dick Scaife buying newspapers and media outlets.

In my county you can't even buy an advertisement in the local paper unless Scaife says it is okay...that is how bad it is...

12. And i am really suspicious about the inability to get Barr on.
Has he been threatened? I do not believe that there were technical difficulties but rather "political difficulties" involved in Barrs non-appearance.

15. IMO, Barr's appearance would have been important...
and made it harder for media to ignore the speech. Barr's participation would have been part of the story, and not just Gore, a Democrat. I'm really wondering if the technical glitch was an accident.

16. CNN has been giving it more than a bit of coverage
obviously, it should be on every network, but at least someone is paying attention.
