Iraq War Broke Back of US Counter-Terrorism: Experts
<snip>

A new poll of counter-terrorism and national
security experts finds that 87 percent of them believe the US
is not winning the war on terror, and they see the Iraq War as the
reason why.

' One participant in the survey, a former CIA official who described
himself as a conservative Republican, said the war in Iraq has
provided global terrorist groups with a recruiting bonanza,
a valuable training ground and a strategic beachhead at
the crossroads of the oil-rich Persian Gulf and Turkey,
the traditional land bridge linking the Middle East to
Europe. "The war in Iraq broke our back in the war
on terror," said the former official, Michael Scheuer,
the author of Imperial Hubris, a popular book highly
critical of the Bush administration's anti-terrorism efforts.
It has made everything more difficult and the threat more
existential." '

Let's list those results of the Iraq War again:

1. Good link

I posted this one yesterday; it states similar sentiment from experts. Not much reaction from the board. I guess it just, unfortunately, does not come as a surprise to anyone....

2. excellent....no surprise.....I finally finished Risen's "State of War"
a stewardess on a flight I took a couple of weeks ago saw it, and asked me if it was good.'

I said it was EXCELLENT, but was making me VERY VERY angry

she wants to get it

there's so much in that book that backs this up, as well as opens many areas of inquiries that aren't being explored, especially that of Abu Zubaydah, and the disappearance of his Saudi banking records, which were DESTROYED before investigators could see them.

NOT ONE mention of that fiasco has been made in the current furor over the nonstory surrounding the NYT's alleged treasonous behavior.

NOT ONE
