Is This True About Frank Zappa?
It was revealed before he had been diagnosed with the cancerous tumor, that he had planned to run for President of the United States, perceiving what he thought to be a fascist bias in American politics.

I don't remember that, but it sure would have been fun!

5. Where did you hear that?
I've read his book, seen countless interviews....

I've never heard him express this desire.

2. Never heard of that, and I'm a rabid fan
He may have said once in jest, but Frank had a loathing for almost all politicians.

But he did save his very best invective for Republicans.

18. Is he?
Do tell. I haven't heard about this connection before.

That artwork is freaking me out. Right now I can only see from the tip of Baker's nose down, and there's a distinct Bette Davis as Baby Jane quality to him....

25. Baker is one of the ones who watched the attack go down on TV
while he sat in a DC meeting room with other members, including a bin Laden or two, of the Carlyle Group. Funny how many of the bin Ladens got gathered up right after the attack and flown out of the country to 'safety'.

16. thanks for the link
I'm assuming that's his appearance on Crossfire. I've got a tiny little Realplayer version of that, but I'm guessing this one is probably better and I'm saving the link to get it later. (I'm on dialup.)

15. Did you ever get a chance to check out Tom Zé?
I think it was you whom I told about Tom Zé, the Frank-Zappa-like Brazilian musician.

Thanks for reminding me. Dweezil and Ahmet's music just doesn't do it for me.

Tom Zé, you say? I'll google him right now.

19. Here's his website:
http://www.tomze.com.br/

Sorry, but it's in Portuguese, but if you have a question, I can translate it for you.

I recommend this CD to start off with (Brazil Classics 4):

28. I met Zappa...he was one of the most intelligent people I've ever seen
He let me and a friend come backstage to talk with him for about a half hour to 40 minutes before a lecture he was going to give at our university.

Very cool guy, articulate, with a vast intellect.

He's never make it as president of this country.

The paranoid part of me says that even threatening to do so, was hazardous to his health, if you know what I mean.
