Bomb squads use charge to deactivate suspicious package

Update 3:25 pm

Bomb squad technicians investigate a suspicious package at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.
By MIKE CHALMERS
The News Journal

Bomb squad technicians used an explosive charge to disable a suspicious package found this morning in a blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox in the 1000 block of Delaware Avenue in Wilmington.

State and Wilmington police bomb squads were called to the area -- across the street from the Delaware Children's Theater -- after the suspicious box was found at 11:19 this morning.

The package had a note written on the outside warning the finder of the box to call the bomb squad, according to Elliott.
