H.R. 895 - H. Res. 895 WTH?! Help please!!
Am I seriously confused here? Aren't H.R. and H.Res. the same thing?

They were just voting on the H.Res. 895 introduced YESTERDAY!!. It's bad. Gives * major power and legalizes everything he's done! Silences any gov. whistle-blowers! 1ST Amendment - silences the press!

1. One is a bill, one is a non-binding resolution
that would be my guess.

3. H.Res is a resolution...HR is a bill.
They are numbered seperatly. H. Res. is used when the resolution has to do with the sense of the House or the rules of debate. HR goes to the Senate after it is passed, it actually proposes a law.

6. The first HR is HR 1 and the first H. Res. is H. Res. 1
As new resolutions and bills are introudced, they are numbered in order. HR 800 is not related in any way to H. Res. 800. All the 800 means is that it is the 800th of its type in the current Congress.

7. Thank you so much! Do you know
if it's common for a res. to be voted on a day after it's introduced?

Why am I so chilled by this res.? Is this the end of the US as we thought we knew it?

I appreciate the education! :hi::yourock:

9. No problem...yeah it is very common for a Res to be voted on within a day.

After a committee passes a bill (HR something) but before the bill comes to the floor, the rules committee passes a privileged resolution called the rule (H. Res something) that determines how long the bill can be debated on the floor and what amendments can be offered. This is often done a day or two before it comes to the floor.
