America-Freedom to Fascism in theatres July 28th
I saw this on another website and thought I would share. I haven't heard of this movie and I just watched the trailer for it.

Filmaker Aaron Russo has made a documentary, due for release at the end of July, called America: Freedom to Fascism. The film exposes the frauds being perpertrated on the American people by the Federal Reserve, the Bush Admin and the bankers behind it all. EVERYONE owes it to theselves to check out the trailers, and the interview.

You will never be the same.

Isn't it amazing that the Repugs control the TV airwaves, so all we have is the cinema? Strange that pro-fact documentaries are always money makers.

Outfoxed
Fahrenheit 9/11
Bowling for Columbine
Wa-Mart:THCOLP
An Inconvinient Truth

We still have a voice, despite their best efforts.

Coming soon..."Who killed the Electric Car?" Remember the GM EV-1? See any anymore? Saw it in a preview to AIT.

3. not that most of us here didn't know most of this anyway, but to see it so
graphically, all in one place, is more than a little frightening. this, and "an inconvenient truth" ought to be on everyone's MUST SEE list.

4. Libertarian clap-trap.
Edited on Thu Jun-29-06 01:46 PM by Postman
Complete fantasy.

The Income Tax, Federal Reserve, Black Helicopters....

Yes, we should return to the days of Victorian capitalism, robber barrons, non-union sweatshops and mass poverty.

And we should limit the supply of money by returning to a gold standard which will ensure the rich become mega-more rich and the rest of us find ourselves backpacking to the Yukon with pickaxes in hand...

I'll pass.

6. With the snippets of Ron Paul on there, I thought the same thing
However, some of what the trailer showed, I agree with. Just because Dems aren't Libertarians doesn't mean we can't agree on some issues.

10. Have you ever read about Libertarian philosophy?
Ever heard of Ayn Rand? -- Complete nutcase.

Totally unworkable. A sect of the rightwing.

Ever read The Creature From Jekyl Island? --

Libertarianism is nothing more than a blueprint for corporate fascism.

Do you trust corporations to do the right thing? I don't.

20. did you actually look at the trailer? and I notice you didn't answer the
question about the 14 indicators of fascism, either. this isn't about corporations doing the right thing (sorry, that answered my question, you DIDN'T see the trailer, or you wouldn't be saying this)but about how this country is being turned into a fascist state.

11. there's better ways to collect taxes than doing it off of my labor
if i decide to spend money, then I support the tax on the goods... trickle down was supposed to work for the rich, why not the middle class....

15. You mean like a consumption tax?
If I bought 3,000 worth of goods in one year, I pay, say, 30% of that in taxes. If a corporation buys 300,000,000,000 worth of goods in one year, it pays 30% of that in taxes? Actually, if you eliminate taxes on incomes of people who make below the poverty line, I wouldn't have to pay any tax on the 3,000, but the corporation would.

17. You're complaint, if you work for a living, is this...
The Origin of Tax Withholding

So where did the withholding tax come from? It was not part of the original income tax that resulted from the sixteenth amendment in 1913. Very few people paid any taxes back then anyway. The income tax did not directly affect the average American until World War II.

On the eve of the war, few Americans paid income taxes. Those that owed taxes paid them in one lump sum on March 15 (later changed to April 15). To pay for the war, the Revenue Act of 1942 lowered exemptions and raised income tax rates. But it also did something even more insidious—it instituted a 5 percent "Victory Tax" on all wages above an exemption of $624. The tax was to be collected by the employer and deducted from the employee's paycheck—just like the Social Security tax that began in 1935.

The Current Tax Payment Act of 1943 then revolutionized the income tax by making withholding taxes universal. The withholding tax was part of the new tax plan offered by Beardsley Ruml (1894–1960), the chairman of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and treasurer of R.H. Macy and Co. By 1945, about three-fourths of Americans were paying federal income taxes. And although the withholding tax was sold as a wartime emergency, like most expansions of government instituted during wartime, it has been a way of life for most Americans ever since.

18. You don't think we're becoming a police state?
Look at the war machine? Taxes are feeding that monster. I know what you mean about the clap trap but we're not getting any services back from our taxes now anyway. I'm sick of paying for more prisons to be built.

19. Becoming?
We've been a "police state" for quite some time.

I just object to the weaselly way they try to slip in the rightwing garbage inside legitimate complaints.

5. Income tax is a farse....
Tax goods, property, tangible things... but don't take the money that I earned and spend it on something I don't care about.... The only thing I would authorize coming out of my check is something for universal health care-- a service.. And since it is directly taken from our checks.. there is no way to protest it.... what are we all going to do not work... if you think about it too long it really pisses you off.

12. Is it saying the 16th Amendment was passed fraudulently?
That the necessary number of state legislatures ratifying it to pass the amendment wasn't met?
