1. Impeachment locally, war crimes globally.
I find it interesting the SCOTUS mentioned the Geneva Conventions, and how Bush has violated them. The international court could, if they wanted to do so, take up that torch.

Of course impeachment will depend on what Congress is willing to do with this ruling. As long as repugs are in charge, I doubt much.

3. That would entail the government of Iraq

4. Who would make the charge war crime?

Who would impeach?

Our Congress?

I think the ruling shows that Bush committed war crimes...simply because he violated both federal and international law governing the laws of war...but we still need a body of government courageous enough...with integrity...to impeach

Bush has said he will go to Congress to get the power to continue his trials within the confines of the ruling...which translates into making his trials legal after the fact.

Any Congress willing to do that isn't a Congress that is courageous.. and such a Congress can not lay claim to having any integrity.

6. It is entirely up to the Congress. ..
If the Democrats win in November, they would have that perogative, I would think. To have the Court rule that the President acted "illegally" is grounds for impeachment, it would seem to me. The Court does not make convict - that is up to the US Senate. I would recommend that the Democrats impeach - if they win the Senate. I doubt they have the balls, however...

7. This Needs To Be Played Into November
The intrusion of privacy is an issue that hits a real nerve with a lot of people...and a government that can run roughshod through all aspects of your life...especially phone calls, email and banking records...really rankles people. Senator Feingold has found this third rail that could energize a lot of Independents this fall and other candidates need to find it and tailor it to their campaigns.

This is a big blow to this regime's concept of being able to escape due process and international law...it has to be framed as obvious violations of the Constitution and the law. Spouting "Impeachment" plays right into the Rove fear playbook...this one of a Congress stuck in endless partisan fighting (not as though its not happening right now...if anything is) but it will be magnified umpteen times by the corporate media...moreso now since they are scared shit to be "Times'd" or singled out by this regime for being "unpatriotic".

The Democrats job has just gotten tougher...

Cheers...
