Isn't wingerism wonderfully carefree?

American Exceptionalism <Jonah Goldberg>
I loathe the sort of commentary stories like this generate. It's all about how America contributes more greenhouse gasses than other countries. Okay, guilty as charged. It's not like these greenhouse gasses don't have a context. The American economy sustains the planet, pulls millions out of poverty, keeps the sea channels open, develops most of the medical breakthroughs, provides most of the funding for international institutions (including the finger-waggers at the UN's environmental divisions), offers the best higher education to the world's leaders, and generally provides a blanket of security for much of the planet. I could go on, but you get the point.

4. Yeah, it is really going to be great for those people
in Bangladesh, the Netherlands, the Seychelles, the Bahamas, Florida, etc., etc., when they have to abandon their communities due to rising sea levels. Really goona be f**king great for those folks. Maybe Goldberg can take a few in, magnanimous sort that he is.

God I can't stand these idiots that stand on the disproven idea that changing our habits HAS to be bad for the economy. Of course, with the stupid f**ks who generally are running corporations nowadays, maybe he has a point. Maybe Americans are just too stupid to figure out a better way that keeps the good things going and doesn't trash our environment. That is what the RW believes. I am an optimist and think we CAN do better.

5. solution
couldn't the USA just ship all the "warmth" to poor countries that don't have any environmental laws?

We do this with everything else, so what's the problem?

Just blow our CO2 enriched skies over some poor country and give them some money for the use of their skys?

6. Yep, that's real good logic! To paraphrase one of the idiot GOP:
"What good is being a great country if you're all dead?"

7. It's not like these greenhouse gasses don't have a context.
They make the Earth hotter. That's the context that's going to be really important in about 50 years. And people are going to wondering why such a great country was such a lazy * when it came to alternative fuels.
