Who started the myth that Falwell & Robertson are men of god?
How is it that these charlatans became the "official" spokespersons of all religious matters in the United States?

How were they and their ilk able to hijack religion, particularly Christianity?

What is it about them that makes them so appealing?

In what way have they given back to humanity?

If people want to know why others bash religion, look no further than these two ass-clowns - they're a your problem.

They've actually been allies for many decades and use the tactic of promoting fundamentalism in all religions for political manipulation. Iit began in earnest in the 60s and ramped up in the 70s.

Look at the CNP membership and you will see how many fundy/political leaders are part of the organization that started in 1980.

4. I disagree.
And I bash religion as often as I can.

Bad christians aren't the "problem" of other christians.

Christian is just a label, IMO. It tells me the person believes in the christian god.

They are no worse, or no better, morally, than non-christians.

5. they are not Christians, they are charlatans
from my aging Thorndike-Barnhart Comprehensive Desk Dictionary, copyright 1952 (and yes, it is my Mom's high school dictionary)...

charlatan: n. person who pretends to have more knowledge or skill than he really has; quack. ... Syn. imposter, cheat.

just about sums up Falwell, et al.

7. I'd say it's more like they're men of gold. They use religion as a kind
scam or racket.

9. I guess it would be the first ancient charlatan who realized that...
the priestly class was a really good hustle.

10. They actually are cultists. This whole Dominionist movement,
which they are part of, is no different than a cult and a death cult at that. I mean everyone who is worthy of the Second Coming, and only they have the word from the Diety as to who they are, will be raptured at the end of times.

So in the meantime they are raking in the profits from their scam. They should be arrested for running a confidence game.
