House OKs Medical Pot Prosecutions
WASHINGTON -- The House on Wednesday voted to continue to allow federal prosecution of those who smoke marijuana for medical purposes in states with laws that permit it.

A year ago, the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government can prosecute medical marijuana users, even when state laws allow doctor-prescribed use of the drug.

By a 259-163 vote, the House again turned down an amendment that would have blocked the Justice Department from prosecuting people in the 11 states with such medical marijuana laws.

Advocates say medical marijuana use is the only way that many chronically ill people, such as AIDS and cancer patients, can relieve their symptoms.

2. heartless. that's all. they are just heartless.
Eventually almost everyone has a loved one who may benefit from med. marijuana. They are voting against a future family member, friend or themselves. What ignorance.

4. They do not care what the People want.
They hold the People in contempt as their actions continually demonstrate.

5. the weird thing is, they're disagreeing with Rehnquist and Clarence Thomas
and jumping on board with "activist judges" like John Paul Stevens and Ginsburg.

I'll remember this the next time they go on a tirade against the judiciary.

7. This blows their states-rights rhetoric to bits
The constitution left this matter to the states, and the federal government is illegally
acting against the constitution.

8. hmmmmm
I was thinking of something related to this the other day ---

The broadcast color guy for the LA Angels is a tool named Rex Hudler. He had a brain aneurysm in 2001 and for several years after this smoked pot - apparently it alleviated some pain - until he was busted for possession in 2003.

Hudler is a fanatical right-wing Christian. I wonder how many Republicans he voted for over the years who not only took away his right to medicate his condition in a way that didn't conform with big pharma, but who now want to send him to prison for doing so.

This isn't just about voting against your self-interest- it's condemning yourself to either live with extreme pain or deal with the side effects of 'approved' medications that very often cause worse symptoms than what they were meant to cure. I don't understand how something as remote as gay marriage could trump living your life without pain. These people are freaky.

9. Karma is a bitch and I hope everyone that voted for this
experiences a long and drawn out painful death. Sorry if this offends but this shit drives me up the wall.
