Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) planned a personal WMD hunt in Iraq
Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) planned a personal WMD hunt in Iraq with Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI). The “congressmen planned to persuade the U.S. military commander to lend them the equipment and men to go digging by the Euphrates” for a cache of WMD believed to be there.

One of the best comments on ThinkProgress:

I was once in a training course on Capitol Hill where we had an instructor from the Library of Congress. She told us her job was to “answer any question asked by a Member.” She then said the two “most stupid” questions she had been asked, which she had printed out, framed and hanging on her office wall were: 1) “A member called asking for information on the pros and cons of child abuse.” and 2) A member called at 11:15 am saying he needed to know by 11:30 ‘what Abraham Lincoln did after he left office.’

She then looked at the class and said “THESE are the people running our government.”

Give them the same equipment that the troops use - you know, the shitty body armor. Give them a vehicle just like the troops use.

Let 'em go hunting. On their own.

4. GREAT idea!!!! Can they take Santorum too?
I'm sure they'd be safe. }(

Reminds me of those guys drilling for oil in Israel based on some biblical incantations.

6. So is this idiot saying that the military isn't doing their job?
Is he saying that *HE* could do a better job at finding something (that doesn't exist) than the soldiers & marines?

Let the idiot go, but without our military to protect his stupid ass, nor mercenaries that are paid with our tax dollars. I'm sure he'll be greeted with flowers and candy.

7. Fools rush in....
Let him go. Let him take other wingnuts with him. Do NOT let him get a military escort. Let him learn what Operation YOYO means. I can't wait for the results.

8. You go, buddies.
Things are really settling down over there now. You really wouldn't need to wear any body armor or have security guards. Have a great time!
