Justice in the World? Glenn Beck on CNN is FLOPPING!
Poor Glenn Beck. While Glenn Beck is on the road having a mid-life crisis, the radio-turned-Headline News host's ratings are sinking.

In the Q2 ranker, Beck doesn't show up until the second page -- below every other CNBC program. He has averaged 78,000 demo viewers since day one, and 165,000 total viewers.

—SNIPPED—

Now his show airs several times a night -- at 7, 9, and midnight -- so Headline News will point out that he actually gets three times as many viewers. But let's look at his individual time slots. At 7pm, Beck averaged 79,000 demo viewers in June. Showbiz Tonight averaged just a few thousand less last June. And he's actually down 19 percent among total viewers for the hour.

At 9pm, Beck is losing viewers for Headline News. In June 2005, Prime News Tonight averaged 110,000 demo and 317,000 total viewers. In June 2006, Beck averaged 82,000 demo and 196,000 total viewers -- declines of 25 and 38 percent respectively. Maybe Beck's premiere poll, "When Will the TV Show Get Cancelled," wasn't a joke...

2. Who is this guy7? I heard his name here on DU, but didn't know what
chanel he was on. I must admit, I rarely tune into CNBC, and I guess that's why I don't know him. What kind of a show is he trying to have?

6. backstory
CNN reportedly hires radio host Glenn Beck
Summary: CNN's Headline News has reportedly hired radio host Glenn Beck in spite of his history of making controversial comments.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on January 17 that CNN's Headline News has hired Glenn Beck -- a nationally syndicated radio host known for making controversial statements -- "for a new prime time program." Media Matters for America has compiled some of Beck's more notable comments:

On families of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: "his is horrible to say, and I wonder if I'm alone in this -- you know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9-11 victims' families? Took me about a year."
On Hurricane Katrina survivors who remained in New Orleans: "And that's all we're hearing about, are the people in New Orleans. Those are the only ones that we're seeing on television are the scumbags -- and again, it's not all the people in New Orleans. Most of the people in New Orleans got out! It's just a small percentage of those who were left in New Orleans, or who decided to stay in New Orleans, and they're getting all the attention."
Discussing disclosures from a caller who claimed to have tortured prisoners in U.S. custody: "I've got to tell you, I appreciate your service. ... Good for you. Good for -- I mean, good for you. Is it because you did it for the country? ... I have to tell you, when all is said and done, I'm glad people like you are on our side."

10. Well, I never heard the creep, but it sounds like a failure, same as
when some idiot network hired Limpballs to do his own show! That failed miserably too!

8. He wanted to murder Michael Moore
Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck said he was "thinking about killing Michael Moore" and pondered whether "I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it," before concluding: "No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"

BTW, Beck is on CNN Headline News, not CNBC.

9. I believe TV Newser referred to CNBC because Beck's show is BELOW even
the lowest rated network shows on CNBC.

3. He's run out of cliches to spew
I've never seen his show, but I can tell what he's like from his promos. He leans into the camera and says "Here's an idea for Congress...GET THE JOB DONE!" Ooooh, so DEEP, Glenn. "Get the job done." I'm sure no one thought of "getting the job done" before your brilliant analytical mind came on the scene! He spouts a couple of other equally ludicrous non-statements, and it's pretty obvious who is actual demographic is...CU. His silly rantless rants sound just like the average CU post -- meaningless recycled quips. Nothing more. His show simply isn't intended for democrats, and the conservatives are dropping like flies. It's like he boarded the Titanic and hour before the ice berg.

16. I think Beck was behind me in a traffic jam
We were all sitting there, bumper-to-bumper, no movement in sight, and the guy behind me honked his horn. I mean, think about it: He honked his horn in a traffic jam! It's like, whoa, we were all just sitting there, and we might have sat there until judgment day, if it hadn't been for the brilliant analytical mind who decided that the way to unsnarl the traffic was to honk his horn.

It had to be Glenn Beck. That kind of mind doesn't come along but once in a generation.

4. Gee, after they spent big bucks on an ad campaign to promote his show?.
Of course running all his ads on Air America wasn't exactly a stroke of genius, was it?

5. It's about time people got tired of hateful rhetoric
described as "straight talk" or "saying things everyone thinks, but is afraid to say."

The thing is: not everyone thinks this way and, if they do, hopefully their mother raised them better than to spout it off in public.

12. Glenn Beck's program is TERRIBLE.
It really sucks. I've watched a couple of times just to marvel at Beck's awfulness.

Whatever TV 'image' Beck is trying to portray, he fails in every category. Not funny, not topical, not biting, not informative, not nothing. Yuck!

Now that IS suckage.

17. I suffered through a segment.
What I thought was funny was "Public Viewer" criticizing all the mistakes Beck had made during the week. It's a bad sign when the funniest part of your show is when someone points out your failures.

18. Good! He's disgusting ... IMO it's sicko to air this man's slime in any
way, shape or form. He should be spending his evenings managing a bowling alley on the poor side of town. Perhaps there, he may find few gullible and mindless teens that are somewhat impressed with both his racist and sexist bull shit. :puke:
