WTF?

Where's the category 5 hurricane in the gulf?

Did the leader of Iran threaten to nuke us/Israel?

We went from $2.63 to $2.99 today here for a gallon.

C'mon what's the reason here. I thought the GOP wanted to keep prices low at least until the '06 elections.:sarcasm:

2. Oh, I'm in the St. Louis area.
Gas is usually cheaper here than the coasts...it's really rare that we hit $3.00, so I was wondering what was up.

8. Here in SoCal I am EXTREMELY happy to see it down to $3.11 at
the cheapest station in my area..............

You've got absolutely nothing to complain about, IMHO.

They never show any mercy on So Cal for anything, so it's to be expected.

4. People have proven they will pay it. Why should prices be lowered?

People are still driving huge SUVs in the left lane at 75 mph. So, the market's still there.

13. and some people have proven
that they need to pay it. For a whole lot of people, walking and biking and public transport just isn't an option.

I got gas tonight - in MASS - $2.91 a gallon but
It was $2.85 two days ago. I don't know what happened that it should shoot up again after taking a dip for a week or so.

All the other stations I passed today were in the $2.93 to $2.95 range as well.

9. The 4th is coming up.
Our gas raised from $2.67 to $2.75, so I guess I'd best fill up, after reading of other prices.

12. They'll raise it to $5 and we'll think we have it good when it drops to $4
I think it's possible. They will scrape every bit of flesh they can from the American corpse.

15. Corner gas store has had Super at $3.29 for weeks while most stations are
charging $3.07. THAT's gouging. They don't offer extra services like repair or even free drinking glasses. You'd think consumer economics would force them to lower the price to get more business.

18. Oh, I forgot the 4th was coming up.
Yeah, any holiday & they have to at least hike it $.25 a gal.

It doesn't even matter if it's a national holiday where most people get off work. I've seen big hikes on Halloween before.:eyes:

19. St. Louis Avg $2.86 today $2.80 yesterday
Probably a combination of the Oil spill in La yesterday and the anticipated demand of the holiday. I think all these stations subscribe to OPIS which gives them e-mail pricing updates constantly on what their next load will cost.

Note: The Shell at Grand Ave. and Forrest Park in SE St.Louis is reported at $2.71 @ 6:40AM today.
