2,519 of our troops now dead in W's Iraqi war
I watched the debate for New Jersey Senate on C-Span. Menendez was quite capable in his answering a question on a possible draft. He said before he would send anyone's kids into a war, he would ask himself whether he would send his own.

It reminds me of the Michael Moore film when Moore asked a Republican whether he'd send his kid to Iraq. The guy gave Moore this look "You got to be kidding" and disappeared.

This is a war in which the elitists are totally comfortable in sitting back and watching the working class fight it...and telling themselves how they are helping the troops by giving them educational and travel benefits...if they survive combat.

1. It's just disgusting to see how the 'numbers' are raking up.......

:sarcasm: <----------- imho, a very 'jaded' person would say what I did in my subject line, hence, the :sarcasm: thingy

These young men/women aren't 'numbers', they're PEOPLE with lives, hopes, futures, dreams, lovers, parents....all dead now.

2. Tony Snow says the deaths are just numbers
You don't see any Republicans saying otherwise. Just a number.

3. I'm starting to feel a demolition derby for Democrats
in four months. These republican assholes are even starting to look like buffoons to their own base.

Lady liberty has that torch held high for a reason. And she's had enough.

4. Not yet......People like Tony Snow apply the Novocane (you know,
that stuff they put on your teeth (in the case of tooth extraction) or in your 'lower parts' when you're about to deliver baby (and, yes, we can be 'adult'/know about how this all works).....

Numbing from what's 'really happening'....we want it, we long for it.....but sometimes, SOMETIMES....the slap in the face of reality is what we REALLY need/WANT, in fact.

Courage. Courage to face REALITY.

5. It will become more ugly
as the middle and lower income understand they are 98% of the recruits. Hired by the upper class to fight corporate globalist wars.

6. I dunno.....
I don't understand why some people will give their lives for schmucks such as these....that's 'part of the problem'.

I don't want to be cruel, but perhaps there is something to Darwinism after all.....

7. It's a carrot to those who want a better life
Much like illegal immigrants. They will do whatever they can to provide a better life with opportunities. The elitists don't have that need nor a sense of sacrifice.

8. The newspapers and the TV talking heads *should* be saying
"another person was killed today in the war" or "Three more people were killed in fighting today". Even labeling them as "troops" or "soldiers" somehow seems to demean their deaths.

Let's start calling it like it is: PEOPLE are dying, not "troops" or numbers.
