Observations about a trip to Texas
My husband and I just got back from visiting his brother in DFW (thanks to brother in law, I now have a "new" used computer more powerful than the one I have now!). Just for fun, as we went through the traffic, I decided to see how many Bush stickers I saw. The result: none. Nada. Zip. On the way home today, on I 30, I finally saw one-it said "W-Worst President Ever". I can't believe I was in the Metroplex for the weekend, going to used bookstores and eating Indian food and not seeing the bumper stickers, but it's true. In fact, I didn't see very many bumper stickers at all. Could this be a trend? Or did Texas outlaw them?

1. Thanks for this good news. It counters the rage I felt when I saw
a Bush/Cheney and Support our Troops vehicle here in Maryland yesterday.
Maybe the bloom has gone off the "Yellow" rose of Texas.....

4. "There's a Village In Texas Missing An Idiot"
is a bumper sticker my friend in Houston has had on her car since 2001. Does that count?
BTW, she was never harassed about it, so I guess even Texas is not 100% Bush-wacky.

6. The Democrats are mostly in town... if you head out to the suburbs you'll
start to see 'em, but not nearly as much now.

7. I'm in Texas right now
in the Dallas area, visiting my wife's relatives and friends. (We live in New Jersey.) I haven't heard any positive comments about Bush (though I've avoided bringing up the subject), and almost no political comments at all, actually. Just one guy complaining about the absurd amount of security Bush has around him when he makes public appearances, and another guy commenting that "he was much more approachable when he was governor." I got the impression from their tone of voice that he may be considered a bit of an embarrassment now.

10. Drive to my suburb just outside of Dallas
Lots of "W"'s still on vehicles. Like I've said before, when all of you say the tide is turning against Bush, I just can't believe it. I'm surrounded by Bushbots.

25. Ask for Mary Ann
who is the bartender/manager, and married to the owner. They also have darts. Mary Ann is totally cool-always had some sort of progressive bumper sticker on her car.

12. Texans should despise the Bush family.
Implants from up North, came down here to leech off of natures resources. Even the people who live in Crawford hate Bush jr. The whole Bush clan gives a black eye to Texas.

14. I live in Arlington and I still see a few....
But not as many as i used to. In fact, I see a lot more anti-*shrub stickers now than before. Especially at work which is significant. I got used to seeing one guys car with a flat flowing in the wind and a flag decall on the side of his car and numersous pukey stickers too. For some reason....they're all gone...wonder what happened...

15. Sorry we missed your visit
Was at Lake Travis today sailing. Great day - 10-15 mph wind from the north. Sorry I wasn't driving around so you could see my IMPEACH signs (2) on my truck tailgate. Oh also "Hitler Didn't Need Warrants Either". I live in Williamson County that hasn't elected a Democrat to anything in my memory. Thought I get some shit for these stickers that I picked up at the big peace march in NY in April. Hasn't happened - no horns blaring, no cut offs, no one finger salute, nothing. Got several kids and a few moms flashing the peace sign though.

Something's happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.

17. Houston here -- far fewer Ws than there used to be.
There's a few but it's probably the same few that I see every day.

Although I hear that there's still quite a few in the planned subdivisions in the suburbs.

19. I drive 180 miles a day. Every day I see the same W 04 sticker
on the same car. 99% of the time I only see one Bush sticker and it's on the same car. It amazes me how proudly this dude displays his ignorance!

23. In my little corner of East Texas
I have seen very few "W"astikas, but I am starting to see more Democratic bumper stickers.
There are at least 10 or so Chris Bell stickers around my town--I haven't seen any Perry stickers or Carol 4-names. There are a couple of Kinky stickers.
I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH--VOTE DEMOCRATIC" on the back of an old farmer's truck.
The tide is turning...at work today (in a historically "red" town) there were 4 nurses on shift. ALL 4 were against Bush and the Republicans and marked the 3rd or 4th political conversation at work that came up in the course of the last month that was against Bush policies--and that I didn't initiate.
