The Iraqi resolution will give amnesty to any insurgent
who killed American troops as long as they did not kill Iraqis. I guess our troops are expendable without honor.

1. Whaaaaa? I replied to an earlier thread saying the exact opposite.
And that Iraq PM aide who was canned, his views (an amnesty as you describe) were reportedly repudiated by the government in no uncertain terms.

What gives?

3. there is no honor in serving fascism....
They are foreign invaders in a war of aggression. What would you do in the Iraqis' place? What would you do if your country were invaded without provocation?

4. If Only The Democrats Will Get Their Acts Together
and unite on this very issue, then it's buh-bye for the Republicans.

5. If this brought peace to Iraq would you support it?
Would the prosecution of all involved in the killings satisfy your honor? Would peace be worth it?
Is the death of one Iraqi worth less than the death of one American? When and how does it end without reconciliation?
For every American that died, God rest their soul, thousands of Iraqis have died without honor.

To end a civil war and to end this war is something that will bring real honor.
War does not bring honor, there is only dishonor in making war.

The old code of honor must itself take this path -- chivalry itself must look upon its own heart and admit the wrong it has done, and become the peaceful warrior who battles to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk with humility in the world.

And there are compensations for the peaceful warrior of the heart. Pain and hurt come to us all, no matter how open or how closed we make our hearts. Having the courage to be open to the hurts others will give is the same path by which people find love and friendship, understand how to do justice -- and for those of us who are mystics, the Eastern Orthodox teachers explained that this is the very openness by which the Spirit can enter into our lives.

6. The Iraqi gov't is exactly that...
a government. If that gov't wants to declare any sort of amnesty.... so be it. We (the USA) should not have any say in the matters of an Iraqi government.
