Sears Tower terrorist plot is bunk.
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 01:18 PM by Jara sang
Come on... Get real, just look at these guys, the last report I saw stated that they have no money, no assets and no property. This is really pretty pathetic. It would be as if the Secret Service chose at random a single lone nut who threatened Bush(out of the thousands that make such threats) and decided to come down on him full force with the press trailing behind using the equivalent of the Hubble telescope to examine every aspect of the would be assassins life.

CNN was showing a loop of FBI guys in SWAT gear standing around in an alley in a run down section of Miami just mulling about, talking on cell phones and chatting with each other. They showed this continuously, which means they got nothing.

They are also claiming that one person swore allegiance to Al Queda and they keep mentioning that. Here is another news flash for the MSM, there several thousand white guys down in Mississippi that have sworn allegiance to Adolph Hitler and it has been documented that they are forming links to radical Islamic groups in the style of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" yet the main stream media fails to mention this story.

Also notice the MSMs new language when discussing terrorism, they have this catch phrase when dealing with alleged terrorists which is to mention "links to Al Qaeda". This is bullshit. It's the equivalent of "some people say", and we all know that there are six degrees of separation between anybody in the world and Osama Bin Laden. Except for Bush, who has two degrees of separation.

If it was really Al Qaeda they would say, yell, scream "Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda! Run! Run! Run!" This is more terra, terra, terra to keep people fearful and allow Bushco to look as if they are doing something about terrorism. Which they aren't. It's all bullshit.

He talked about murdering Michael Moore on his radio show. He's been rewarded by getting his own prime time CNN TV show.

2. Couldn't agree more.
What a crock. And a waste of resources. These idiots obviously had no possible way to carry out a threat - even if they did make one, which is dubious as well.

6. I wouldn't say that about the London bombings.
They had real consequences and real people died. As far as the deep politics behind the bombings, who knows, but the bombings were rather convenient for Bushco.

29. Why was Rudy Guilani hanging round that area in London that day?
Yes, unfortunately people died, but who were those so called "terrorists" really?

There were just too many wonky questions about those bombings for my taste. :tinfoilhat:

12. Big distraction from chaos in Bagdhad and two Americans tortured
Those should be top stories daily...

....after the crackdown in Bagdhad, gangs are barricading streets, busloads of people kidnapped (starting to show up dead and tortured now), greenzone warnings that Bagdhad is in freefall, Americans still getting killed, etc. Big story that must be buried.

...also, two Americans show up dead and tortured. This must be buried because it brings up ideas of incompetence, torture memos, unlimited executive power, Abu Ghraib (never did see all the photos and videos, did we?), Gonzales and Rumsfeld on the hot seat, Biden telling Gonzales on TV that the main reason we don't torture is to keep our own guys from getting tortured, rendition, Guantanamo and the recent (buried) first hand account of torture that showed up on Rawstory this week, etc....

They control the stories and what is said about them.

I came into the news late today. Seems that this story just covers for the bank snooping and the NK foreign policy exploding in front our faces.

You can see how it all happened.

Special Agent 1: This suspect was eating a philly cheesesteak.

Special Agent 2: Philly cheesesteak? Don't those come from Chicago?

Special Agent 3: What's important in Chicago?

Special Agent 1: The Daily Planet Building?

Special Agent 3: No, that's in Metropolis.

Special Agent 2: I know! The Sears Tower! They were going to blow up the Sears Tower!

MetLife Will Sell Sears Tower

By Dean Starkman
The Wall Street Journal Online
March 12, 2004

Two investors who are part of Larry Silverstein's group that owns the World Trade Center lease are among the buyers of the Sears Tower, which MetLife Inc. agreed to sell Thursday for more than $800 million, according to people familiar with the situation.

Lloyd Goldman and Joseph Cayre, New York investors who are among Mr. Silverstein's backers in the Trade Center, are part of a group that agreed to buy the Chicago landmark, these people said. Another New York investor, Jeffrey Feil, was also a participant in the Sears Tower deal, the people said. Names of the other investors couldn't be learned.

(snip)

Mr. Goldman led a group including Mr. Cayre that put up most of the $125 million of the equity that Mr. Silverstein, a New York developer, used to buy the 99-year office lease on the Trade Center office portion from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The deal, valued at $3.2 billion, including the Trade Center's retail mall, closed in July 2001, weeks before the September terror attacks that destroyed the complex.

Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Port Authority in December had quietly agreed to return all of the $125 million in equity that Mr. Silverstein and his low-profile group originally invested to buy the leases. The full details of that transaction haven't been released to the public. But the deal effectively eliminated the Silverstein group's capital risk in the project, while allowing the group to retain control of 10 million square feet of office space.
The Port Authority has rejected a Wall Street Journal request to review the transaction, citing Mr. Silverstein's ongoing lawsuit against his insurers, led by Swiss Reinsurance Co., over how many claims may be collected as a result of the attacks.

*****

How much do you think Larry Silverstein would have made out with this time had the plot somehow succeeded? Maybe he should have ponied up some materials, weapons and money for the penniless entrapees they're trying to hang this on.

23. While I understand your POV,
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 05:34 PM by HypnoToad
what proof do they have of actual intent to kill and destroy?

Most of the DUers, for example, openly disagree with what's going on. We sure as hell aren't out to kill or destroy! And those that say such nasty things I have no qualms hitting the Alert button on.

At what point is the line drawn, between free speech and intent of aggression? Between the hint and reality? Now, granted, I haven't kept up with the news or those folks in general. Where is the proof those folks had imminent means to attack somebody and get the means to do it? That's my curiosity. What do they know that we don't, and I don't want to know about it either except they had the knowledge and intent and that those creeps who plotted were not framed?

If there's intent, action invariably follows. Which means, should we be looking at gun control again? Easy access to guns would only help those creeps.
