Animal lovers-Best Friends Day!
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 08:42 AM by pecwae
I wanted to share this email with DU from Best Friends:

It’s Best Friends Day, and the start of a special weekend of kindness to animals.

It all started when we conducted a nationwide poll. We found, on the one hand, that 89 percent of all Americans believe we have a “moral obligation” to protect the animals in our care. But we also found that most people aren’t yet doing much to put their beliefs into action. This year’s Kindness Index is only 5.86, and we need to start moving it higher. So this weekend, we’re asking people all across the country to do one good deed for the animals – one Act of Kindness.

On the Best Friends Network website, at http://network.bestfriends.org there are lots of examples of things anyone can do – from helping an elderly neighbor with their pet, to helping out at a local shelter, to making a donation to save homeless animals, to having a vegetarian meal or cookout.

When you’ve done your AOK (Act of Kindness), come to the Best Friends Network site at http://network.bestfriends.org and tell us what you did. You can put up a photo, too, if you like.

that can always use cat and dog food, supplies and of course money and your time if you are able.

I make a pledge of $25.00 & have to go to PetSmart today anyway so will go to the site when I have done it.

By the way I don't know why but your first link I could'nt get to work. The second one works though.

I see now. You have a period after org in the first link that fouls it up.

3. Very nice post
And a quote I've always liked:

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”.
-- Mahatma Gandhi

5. Ya, one of my favorite quotes as well. Also, I am sure you have
noticed, people that have respect for animals and nature always seem to be better people and the ones you enjoy being around. I know when I get out in the country, biking or hiking or just in a great park where you can hear the sounds of nature, there is such a peacfulness about it. We are a bunch of noisy people.

You see it so clearly with children.
