About that "7 Arrested In Alleged Sears Tower Plot"
I think this CBS News article is very revealing (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/06/22/terror/main1744608.shtml)

"One neighbor said the suspects had been sleeping in the warehouse while running what seemed to be a “military boot camp.”

So it was some bizzy-body neighbor who probably saw some completely innocent (and/or legal) activity happening at this location, but once the data had passed through the fear-filter (that has been carefully inserted over the last 5 years) shrouding their mind they saw it as some nefarious activity.

But what might make them see what is most probably some innocuous occupation as something...Terrible? This from the very next sentence is a clue:

All of the alleged plotters are Muslim...

1. I sympathize but, still, just because it's Muslims being accused
doesn't automatically mean they're innocent and these are trumped up charges. I think a lot of people do automatically assume that, and I think that assuming anything in these cases can be an assumption too far.

4. My thoughts (even thought
this repoatage makes me feel like ROTFLMAO)But, I feel for the poor bastards arrested. Sounds like a sting that was refused and the FBI is giving itself 'good' PR and that it gives the maladministration more excuses to pry and make up what they want (home-grown 'terraists, recruited in prisons, etc., etc., and, given the times, I think many hopeless souls are going to rise up in one way or another). Asshole on CNN didn't ask any pertinent or insightful questions and says we will have (or be subject to) a press conference from Gonzales tomorrow. God, he is more obvious than a 'get this pill' commercial (some of one's guy's friends had problemes with the hockum).
Communists under your bed! Oops! 'Terraists' under your bed! FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!

6. I can't wait to find out what the plan was this time
:eyes:

The usual story turns out to be pathetic - like blowing up the Sears Tower with a trunk-load of m-80's.

9. i don't think they'd even gotten that far along...
to even have an actual plan...

"Officials told Stewart that they didn’t believe the plotters had gathered bomb-making materials or weapons yet..."

8. Guest on Anderson Cooper kept saying they were copying al qaeda'
The talking head Anderson Cooper was interviewing kept saying 'these groups read al qaeda websites, took a pledge to Osama bin laden' etc

But Cooper kept saying that a government spokesperson says there's no reason to think it's connected to Qaeda and when asked if they were trying to copy al Qaeda the official shrugged and said 'possibly..'

But the talking head kept saying that they were definitely copying al Qaeda, with the internets they don't need to meet in person, blah blah blah

The guy's propaganda was so revolting that even Cooper seemed honest in comparison.

What nonsense.

10. Liberty City is a black neighborhood. So these fellows could
have been party of the Black Muslim faith. It says they slept during the day and came out at night to exercise. This is a very dangerous area at night, so I imagine having weapons would be a good idea. But the interesting thing is - it's in the 90's here in Florida. Sleeping in a warehouse during the day has to be rather horrible under the best circumstances. Of course they don't give details about the warehouse. But to have one with air conditioning and running water someone would have to pay a lot of money. If they don't have running water, they had to go somewhere for bathroom facilities.

And as for "military boot camps" - are they only arresting those type of people that are supposidly Muslim? What about the hundreds of camps around the country with all sorts of wackos involved.

And as one person pointed out - funny they did this on the day the Senate was tallking about what to do in Iraq.

11. When I use to work down there doing home visits
Most people who didn't work, slept during the day and stayed out all night when it was cooler. It seemed they preferred sleeping through the heat of the day. Go through Liberty City at about 2:00 AM and there is all sorts of activity.

15. But can you imagine how hot it would be inside a warehouse?
I've had furniture in a storage place and when I went in there in the summer it was horrible. On a train ride from Odessa to Moldovia - which is an 18 hour train ride - during the summer the car had no AC and the windows wouldn't open. I slept the whole time because I was miserable. I just can't imagine living in a warehouse unless it had lots of windows and a breeze or AC.

12. It's a very dangerous area in the daytime, too.
When I lived in Miami, that's is one place I avoided.

14. Wouldn't surprise me if the FBI mole LURED this group into wanting to
launch an attack.

Didn't that happen in a case in New York? FBI sorta pushing someone to want to carry out a bombing?
