Kucinich on The Big Story: "Mission Accomplished....Get Out!"
John Gibson "interviewed" Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) yesterday 6/20/06 on The Big Story, though "argued with" is a more descriptive phrase of what we saw. The topic was Democrats' calls for getting US troops out of Iraq, and Gibson, rather than conduct a professional and informative interview, resorted to Hannity-like tactics of overtalking, interrupting, and demanding answers to RNC-inspired questions. That served to disrupt the message from the Congressman and denied the viewers their right to hear his side of the Iraq debate...

Questions to Kucinich: (re proposals) that satisfy you? What happens after we leave? Democrats don't even have a consistent plan - it's withdrawal, but they're all over the map. What are the American public supposed to think about the Democrat plan when you can't even pin one down? But what happens - Are you willing to accept a Khmer Rouge-like result the day after we leave? ...we're trying to stabilize so iraqis can take the place of us and then we'll leave. That's Bush's announced plan - what's wrong with it? Did you see Zarqawi's note that says the Americans are the ones who are winning, we're the ones being pressed? (badgering) Do you believe Zarqawi or not? (When Kucinich says we have to get a coalition of forces from neighboring countries to help) - You're kidding! Who? Who? (badgering) Name me one country who's willing to come in and take our place...

By my count Gibson interrupted Kucinich 12 times, arguing with him five or six of those times, The Senator was interrupted once and Gibson did not argue with him.

Also, Kucinich states what needs to be shouted loudly and frequently...

"U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Cleveland, pointed out during recent debate his belief that the entire notion of troop withdrawal is false, because American forces are currently building permanent military bases in Iraq."

1. I think Democrats should just boycott appearing on Fox at all.
Why bother?

5. They can't avoid "faux news". They HAVE to be assertive enough,...
,...to take on manipulative propaganda, misrepresentations and plain ole' freakin' lie and LIARS!

I would actually argue the opposite of your suggestion,....I would advocate that focused, clear-thinking, well-reasoned, sharp Democrats crawl all over "faux news", every single one of them should request frequent appearances and, when denied, bitch and complain that "faux news" is being discriminatory about political affiliations.

That's my thoughts,....for what their worth.

6. Faux is not a real news channel. Many of it's viewers think
it is, because it's nice for the news to "go your way". By appearing on Faux, democrats and anyone else not firmly implanted with the GOP, are simply adding to the myth that it is, in fact a real news program.

If it were boycotted by everyone but the GOP, perhaps their stupid viewers would begin to see it for what it is....a mouthpiece for the GOP.

7. It has viewers who can be influenced by REASON.
Stupid or not (and I don't think all viewers of "faux news" are stupid: brainwashed, maybe, or clinging to stubborness about their perception, maybe, or wanting to still trust their leaders, maybe).

I still advocate that "faux news" should be flooded with all middle to liberal democrats who have the capacity to challenge propaganda, misrepresentations and lies. That's just my position.

Boycotting by us "little citizens" is a fine idea, too. But, that is separate and apart from my suggestion.

8. Excellent points - but can a Faux viewer ever really be influenced?
People who watch this channel do not want reality. Faux must make their viewers happy so people opposed to the GOP way of thinking will always either be cut off or presented in a bad light. Logic and truth have no place at Faux. Alan Colmes is an excellent example. They went out and hired the most uncharismatic person they could find to represent the left. He's about as personable as Cheney.

However, I do respect your hopeful optimism that Faux may one day be forced into being an unbiased news channel. I would really love to see that happen but it's loyal viewers don't want a real news channel - they only want a channel that plays one on TV.

3. I just love how they conveniently "run out of time" when they
have someone telling the truth on their bandwidth.

happening on every channel. These people are pigs.
