Hacker enters Agriculture dept. computers
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060622/ap_on_hi_te/agriculture_hacker

WASHINGTON - A hacker broke into the Agriculture Department's computer system and may have obtained names, Social Security numbers and photos of 26,000 Washington-area employees and contractors, the department said Wednesday.

Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said the department will provide free credit monitoring for one year to anyone who might have been affected.

My suggestion is that instead of the Government hiring IT people in India they should hire Americans to maintain security on their antiquated data bases...

1. I hope the patriotic hackers will be fast at work election day
my hope is that enough hackers mess with the system, they have to scrap the electronic machines and go to a verifiable vote....you know who you are...God bless you....

2. I have a way YOU can mess with the system.
Just bring one of these to the polling booth, and be first in line when it opens at 6 AM;

3. I'm not usually a conspiracy-theorist
But what is with all the identity theft lately? Isn't this like the third big news story in recent weeks about how thousands of people's information has been stolen? What the heck is going on?

5. Same here - similar
to the rash of dead biomedical scientists a while back. - But those stories did not come so fast and hard on the heels of one another.

And MSM isn't even asking if these are connected, while we are.

It looks to me like something's up, and it looks bad.

I check my bank and credit card online info every day.

Maybe there will be a bill sponsored by the the poor credit card companies to relieve them of any obligations if there is an avalanche of theft. Gee, I wonder if the Rethugs will pass that and taxpayers will hold the bag?????
