Watch the murder trials of US soldiers in Iraq carefully...
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 01:50 PM by Junkdrawer
Remember there are now many, many incidents under investigation. They are not all Haditha incidents in either the depravity of the murders or the quality of the evidence.

I wouldn't put it past Rumsfeld to make sure that the most innocent of incidents are the only ones that see public trial - and the most depraved incidents will be hushed up.

1. Or it's a weird rove deal where they build it all up, get a lot of
attention and then acquit everybody in a big flourish and you never hear about about anymore of these things again.

2. You watch: the first (and maybe the only) trials will be ones...
where older men are killed and where the evidence is spotty at best.

3. One thing they are doing quite differently
is holding press conferences and releasing a helluva lot more information then is usually the case relative to courts martials. The transparency (or the appearance of transparency) is out of character for the DOD.

God, "the appearance of transparency." Is that not a totally republican concept?

4. notice
These incidents still only involve enlisted men. Where are the officers that are supposed to be in charge????? All in their air conditioned offices I assume. An angry ex inlisted man, some things never change.

5. That too, but first they have to muddy the waters. By September...
the talking heads will be saying: "Well, as we've seen in the xxx trial, evidence that appears cut-and-dry at first just doesn't hold up under scrutiny."
