HEADLINE: Family Court Judge jailed on domestic battery charges
Clark County Family Court Judge Steven E. Jones is jailed this morning on domestic battery charges. Police arrested the 14-year judge at his Henderson home last night in connection with allegations he struck a woman inside the residence near Valle Verde Drive and Interstate 215.

# Marital status: Divorced. Remarried.

# Children: Three from second marriage.

# Experience: Elected Family Court judge, 1992-97. Selected by colleagues as presiding judge, 1993. Clark County District Court domestic relations referee, 1988-92. Private attorney 1985-88.....

Perceived gender bias.

Attorneys and litigants perceive that Jones is biased against women. It is an allegation largely based on anecdotal evidence and a perception that Jones and his wife have a stormy relationship. Efforts to document the allegation were impossible because of an earlier decision by court officials and the Clark County clerk's office to not record such information....

The perception of bias is reinforced by the publicity that surrounds a year-old physical fight between Jones and his then-pregnant wife, Deborah. The judge called police to his house after his wife hit him with a shower curtain rod, police said. Deborah Jones was arrested, jailed, sentenced for domestic battery in June and ordered to undergo counseling.

Jones dismissed the allegation of bias, pointing out that he has been criticized equally by groups of men and women. And he said involvement in a domestic violence dispute does not impede his ability to listen fairly to female litigants.

2. Precisely.
Who knows how many cases he has heard and the outcomes of the cases skewed by his obvious view that women are punching bags. :grr:
