New '06 Senate polls: Pennsylvania, Washington and Michigan
Casey continues to have double digit lead over Santorum--52-34 percent.

Kos thinks that Cantwell may be our most endangered incumbent senator and she currently leads her race by only four-points in Washington state 44-40 percent.

In Michigan Stabenow leads both of her potential Republican foes 50-37 and 53-34 respectively, but as confirmed by other polls it appears that Gov. Granholm is our most endangered Democratic governor trailing De Vos 48-41 percent.

1. Rasmussen has a more recent poll from MI that is
Jennifer Granholm (D) 44%
Dick DeVos (R) 42%

I agree she is the most vulnerable dem governor. Our economy blows thanks to the auto industry, and some people think that DeVos can change that just because he is a multi-millionaire. I am not sure why he needs to be Governor in order to spend some of his scAmway fortunes on MI.

2. Granholm hasn't the resources of DeVos and therefore
hasn't even BEGUN her media response to DeVos's campaign.

Hopefully the polls will start looking better once she can really start spending and getting her message out.

Granholm is a GOOD governor and it would be a shame if we allow DeVos to BUY his way into office.

3. I'm kinda tired of hearing this excuse

Can't the national party throw some money her way to counter these Devos ads? I would think the governorship of a large swing state like MI would be worth it. The Democratic Party and progressive 527's have no money to do this?

"Oh just wait until Granholm starts her ad blitz." Seems to be a refrain. I hope I'm wrong but I worry it's going to be too goddamn late. The presumptive choice of the undecided swing voter in shitty and anxious economic times is going to shift to a challenger as long as that challenger seems reasonable enough. "Why not give this guy a shot?" is the conventional thinking. It's going to be alot harder to counter swing voters' positive first impressions of Devos later on that it would have been to tell them what a nutjob he was during March Madness and the Pistons and Red Wings playoffs. Not hearing lotsa water cooler chatter about what a kook Devos is like I think I should be. All he's got to do is keep it close in Macomb and Oakland Counties and he is in there.

7. I hope you are wrong about the swing voters but you make
a pretty good point. First impressions do tend to be lasting impressions. And it is a shame that her re-election bid seems to be underfunded.

But still, we haven't seen Granolm's response yet and she's a smart candidate and a good governor.

4. Granholm can slam him with his lies after Labor Day
She'll be leading the bridge walk, being the incumbent and all. She'll get the press attention, even if he is there walking, too.

He's been running a lot of ads claiming he had the chance to open factories out of state and refused, despite it being cheaper to operate in other states (per his ad). Alticor (Scamway's new name) has at least one factory in China-it's an easy thing to point out.

8. Is there going to be a debate?
I hope so. Or is he going to build a lead and then chicken out.

9. Speaking of DeVos lying . . .
I just read this article on MI Liberal about a woman in one of DeVos's campaign ads who claims to be unemployed, but really is a Republican operative who left her job at the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC to move back to Michigan.

http://www.michiganliberal.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5848

From everything I have read, Granholm and the MDP are just warming up and the truth about DeVos jobs record at Alticor will come out. He just keeps providing us with more ammo in the mean time.

6. She'll be holding her breath for my vote in '06.
Which she lost when she voted for the war.

10. 4 points is too Diebold-able
I need a better word for a race that is close enough to steal via electronic voting fraud.

Not that it can't be stolen by any combination of long lines, phone jamming, tire slashing, precinct moving, and intimidation.
