I have a question about this "Activated" missile defense system...

Let's pretend that this system is real and it works... :)

If Bush ordered this so-called missile defense system to be switched on in response to North Korea's apparent missile test... WHY HAS IT BEEN SWITCHED OFF????

Once you realize what the Missile Defense program was ACTUALLY supposed to do -- make the contract cronies rich -- you realize that it works perfectly.

It has nothing to do with knocking down missiles, though. That's just the McGuffin.

the full tracking elements for the system are ready yet. So I doubt the system is active.

When I hear about this vaunted missle defense system, I think of that boardroom scene from the opening of the movie in which the supposedly cutting-edge law-enforcement robot accidentally riddles some corporate puppy with a thousand rounds of bullets. That followed by the corporate overseer referring to it as a "glitch."

9. I hope the North Koreans are considerate enough

To tell us when they will launch their missile, what frequency its radio telemetry is operating on, and where it's headed so that we have a snowball's chance in hell of throwing our pebble at their pebble and knocking it out of the sky over several thousand miles of air space.

Gee, it sounds kind of stupid when you write it down, doesn't it? And even stupider when you consider this is a government program instituted, funded, developed and installed by a bunch of folks who hate government and who only want to see government programs fail.
