The media will resume their duty of oversight when Democrats are in power
Just like they did the last time when the Republicans were attacking Clinton. As soon as the Repubs took power, the media took a vacation. But, you can rest assured, if the Democrats win, they will be back at their old game. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad and demoralizing. Perhaps a good start would be to get all the media out of Washington. They are a detriment to our democracy - not a necessity.

1. You're absolutely correct, kentuck.
I have most of the corporate media whores on ignore. I have Faux blocked so the vile filth they spew never enters my home. I occasionally tune in to MSNBC, but that's about it.

3. I hope the seeds of a newer better media will be in place by then
IWT for one. A US Guardian for another.

I hope all the cable news channels choke off their viewers and revenue sources with their 24 hr. diet of dead housewives, unbalanced celebrities ,runaway brides and missing blondes. They are collectively about one step ahead of the Jerry Springer show right now. No compelling reason to watch - you are not enlightened, you are not informed, you are not educated, you are only demeaned.

4. They'll flay the hides off of them
which makes a Democratic return to power this election cycle a rock-and-a-hard-place situation. The Republicans have had their playskool romp, Democrats will be stewards of the consequences, bearers of the blame. And the wreckage is bogglingly huge. If I didn't think another half decade of Republican governance wouldn't result in a smoking crater where the country once stood, I'd prefer they'd be the ones in office when the bills come due.

5. If the Corporate Media vanished tomorrow I wouldn't notice
...except to do some serious partying to celebrate their demise.

6. I've been thinking about that for a long time too.
I tried to think back to what the news was like before BC. Did the media attack GHB, RR?

The problem I have is that I was wowrking 80 hr weeks back then, and I don't remember much. I recall Iran Contra hearings and Ollie North testifying; making fun of Reagan claiming not to ever be able to hear their questions; GHB throwing up on some foreign dignitary at a dinner, but I just didn't have time to watch cspan or much news, and CNN wasn't a biggie until the Gulf War.

Was it really ONLY BC that they attacked and abused so badly, or were there others?
