W House: "this is a brutal enemy that does not follow any of the rules"
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/428593p-361179c.html

From the Stupid New York Daily News:

Pointless it is to explain to Al Qaeda that when you catch two soldiers, they're prisoners of war, entitled to Geneva Convention specificities. The deaths of Menchaca and Tucker are "a reminder that this is a brutal enemy that does not follow any of the rules," the White House said, sorrowfully stating the obvious. Regardless, it's already a given that some of the European leaders President Bush will be meeting with these next few days would sooner blubber over all those poor detainees in Guantanamo, suffering so, rather than decry the fates of Menchaca and Tucker.

------------------

A brutal enemy that does not follow any of the rules. How very droll.

19. Coming from the people who said "there are no rules in this conflict"
Or the rules don't apply to the US.

10. I know, we're so much better than they are
only some prisoners die due to our torture, while most die due to their torture. So, naturally, we're much better than them!

(I hope I don't need the 'sarcasm' smilie for that one)

7. Maybe Al Qaida hasn't been notified of the signing statements?
But, Halliburton's contracts are up 600% so who care?

6. I'm curious...
Is the writer of that piece paying any attention at all? What happened to Menchaca and Tucker is tragic and makes me ill, but this occupation has been going on for how long now and there are people who still don't give a shit about human life if it isn't an American.

12. When you think about it, it's a group effort. They all do it.
The Other they create is the sum of their efforts.

14. The Other.
Now you're scaring me, cause it's true. None of them could do it alone, they needed to conspire with a couple hundred people or so to get where they are now. The other is real, he's the Golum, he's Frankenstein's monster.

15. They are projecting their own brutality on their enemy
The US government authorities ignore the Geneva convention. They torture and brutalize their captives. Our pResident even has signing statements that makes it clear he will direct the Armed Forces to torture prisoners if he feels he needs to torture. But when the enemy does the same thing to our soldiers, well we just can't have that. Typical behavior of a dysfunctional government.

Perhaps if the US treated their captives more humanely, it would reduce the support these madmen get from the community. Remember how the Germans would surrender to American soldiers during WWII. But the insurgents now would never surrender for fear of how they will be tortured.

What goes around, comes around.

Wasn't it Senator Joe Biden who pointed out that we shouldn't torture our captives because we don't want the enemy to treat our soldiers in the same way.

17. gee, but the article fails to mention that it all started with
the 'enemy combatant', created by the * cabal.

Somehow these 'patriotic' journalists seem to always miss major points like this. :eyes:
