On our program a couple of days ago I told you I’d be complaining a lot this week about the lack of support for those of us in the Liberal Media, yes LIBERAL media. You can have your PROGRESSIVE moniker. Its for those who have been intimidated by the right into abandoning the word Liberal. I won’t give in to that kind of pressure. I’m a Liberal and like JFK I wear that badge proudly and with HONOR.
We Liberals and you progressives get our asses kicked in the media every single day of the year. But, especially on the radio. Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly, Boortz, Laura Inghram, Ed Schultz (oh, sorry, I forgot, he claims he is a Leftie now) Mike Savage and hundreds of local foaming at the mouth right-wing Rush wanna be’s are killing us. Any message they want to get out they do so with almost no defense from our side.
They get their talking points sent to them each day and they march to their microphones and propagandize this country with a stream of bullshit that just won’t quit. They could convince the entire nation that Elvis isn’t dead. They have convinced the American public of some the most ridiculous crap imaginable. Hell, they convinced millions of Americans that George W. Bush is a good Christian man. They convinced millions of Americans to vote for him. If they could do THAT they can convince the American people of anything they desire and they have.
And what do WE do? Sit here and take it. There are a few of us out here in the radio world struggling to make a difference. We operate on a shoestring and limp along from one day to the next wondering how we are going to pay the bills next week. We do it because we care. We don’t have the luxury of having a staff of writers, comics, producers and all of the other things that go into making a successful radio program. But we DO have the facts and we DO present them with conviction and honesty.
There are some very fine broadcasters on the Left. I admire some of them greatly. However, there are others who also have strong voices for the Left. Of course, I am speaking of my own show, The Guy James Show. I’ve been doing the show for nearly 4 years now, streaming it on the internet for almost the entire time. We’ve been bounced from local AM radio because our Liberal views were not appreciated by the mostly conservative base in this area. They ranted and raved until the station took us off, even though we had to buy our air-time from them.
So, on faith we built a modern, state of the art studio capable of sending the show to any computer and radio station in the world. We hoped that the listening audience would support such a venture. So far, our hopes have not been realized. A few dedicated listeners have helped support the program but we are far short of what it takes to produce and stream the show.
If you care about evening the balance between the Right-Wing radio monster and our meager Left-Wing gang then I ask for your support. I ask that you help us continue our efforts to bring about much needed change on the political scene.
