1. Since she's slightly more hawkish than most Dems, ...
... especially California Dems, that's a powerful stance. Of course Murtha is about as hawkish as Dems get ... and still the tide is going oout.

2. especially when you consider that the U.S. created the civil war...

...in the first place by destabilizing Iraq and removing all controls on sectarian violence. I'd be willing to bet it was intentional, too-- early on, conflicts between Shi'a and Sunnis helped to suppress the former ruling Sunnis from which the Ba'athists were largely drawn. Bremmer, and later Negroponte-- this sort of internal violence served U.S. interests during the first year or so of the occupation.

4. It always comes back to why we are in Iraq
An unjust war only produces insanity.

5. Winograd moves Harmon to the Left
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 12:11 AM by KeepItReal
Jane Harmon has been M.I.A. for the Democratic party (being in a "safe" seat) the 4+ years I haved lived in her district on *every* issue of importance.

I'm happy she's talking tough now. Let's see how she votes.

7. That's exactly what happened. It sounds to me like Marcy gave
her more of a run for her money than she expected. Maybe that was the only way to get her attention. I, too, notice that she's "adjusted" her thinking a little. Perhaps she knows we're still watching her, even if Winograd isn't a contender any longer. Marcy, you STILL ROCK!

9. Harmon's district is pretty conservative
especially where I live in the South Bay. It's so conservative we used have "B1" Bob Dornan as our rep, I wouldn't call this area 'safe'.

6. Standing up when you're in a pile of shit isn't cutting and running
It's just plain common fucking sense! A commodity in remarkably short supply on GOP side of the aisle.

10. Exactly. That's why sending more troops would only result in
more casulties, i.e. sitting ducks.
