3. One of the great tragedies of the last century
was the assassination of so many great men, and the defeat of so man others in politics, and the blacklisting of still others.

Anyone who has read his autobiography, the details of what changed within him during and after his pilgrimage to Mecca, can only feel deep regret that his voice was silenced so soon.

I consider myself kind of a lapsed pagan but I felt the need to wear our symbol again. I need the power and strength. Trying to regain my magick for rough times ahead.

12. Please indulge me. Don't laugh.
I'll just be short with my point. That speech is also in the film Malcolm X. I thought it was quite insightful and pertinent to what we are experiencing today. But here's what thought occured to me as I heard him. It's not just then. But it's something I've watched for many years. And I believe it is more imporatant than it appears at face value.

Our addiction to petroleum is essentially the driving force behind our complacency. We have the power and comfort we need. So why would we feel compelled to risk it. I know it's not completely universal, but there is truth to it. And it pertains to the speech, in that it relates to a level of comfort provided. We're all "masters" now. Yet, we are all house negroes. We are empowered and enslaved by the very thing we are addicted to. I believe petroleum addiction is the modern day equivalent, if not more so, than what Malcolm speaks of. It is the very source of corporate power.

If we want to break ourselves from the things that bind us, we are going to have to face the reality that we are addicted to petroleum. I think this is nearly completely avoided by most people, because after all, we are all house negroes now.

I hope you'll think about this and not simply dismiss it as silly off topic thinking.

13. In today's contextr I actually take that speech as saying
that most of us are the field negroes, the working, the poor, our local leaders and representatives are in fact the house negroes and the executive and the corporations the true masters
