MURTHA re: ROVE:Hes Sitting In His Air-Cond Ofc On HIS BIG FAT BACKSIDE
Murtha Responds to Rove: ‘He’s Sitting in His Air-Conditioned Office on His Big, Fat Backside, Saying Stay the Course’
Karl Rove attacked Rep. John Murtha during a speech last week in New Hampshire. Rove described Murtha’s Iraq plan as “cutting and running,” and suggested that the 37-year Marine combat veteran would “be with you at the first shots” but not “for the last, tough battles.”

Murtha defended himself this morning on Meet the Press:

MURTHA: He’s in New Hampshire. He’s making a political speech. He’s sitting in his air-conditioned office on his big, fat backside, saying stay the course. That’s not a plan. … We’ve got to change direction. You can’t sit there in the air-conditioned office and tell troops carrying 70 pounds on their backs, inside these armored vessels hit with IEDs every day, seeing their friends blown up, their buddies blown up — and he says stay the course? Easy to say that from Washington, DC.

"Chicken-hawks beware, you have pulled the horns on the wrong bull."

I think Murtha could even knock the Swiftboaters out of the water. He is interesting to watch. Go, Murtha! You speak for a great many angry folk.

10. I really think Rove does not know
what Murtha, a Marine of 30 some odd years, will do and say... This is an honorable man.. He will not back down....

3. It was magnificent! Murtha also said he knew nothing of Rove's
service background. I'm sure he'll love it when he finds out that Rove hasn't any! I hope he does real soon!

11. when they were debating this non-binding Iraq....
....thing a few days ago, someone stood up and said if Murtha had been in Normandy, we would be speaking japanese now.

Murtha didn't miss a beat! As soon as the guy finished speaking, he asked if he had been at Normandy, the guy said 'no'. Then Murtha asked if he had been in Viet Nam, again he answered 'no'. Then he asked if he had been to Iraq and the guy said he had been there but confessed he wasn't fighting in the war.

After this was over, I'm sure it made that guy seem very small!!

22. Now you know why Coulter-geist said Murtha should be
fragged (maniac that she is). Murtha is so on target (with the Truth on his side) that no one can justify this unjustifiable war when he can confront them. He shames them all!

And the beauty is that he does it on a basic level, with a clarity that EVERYONE can understand.

32. Oh, I bet Murtha knows, but he's a wise man to say it that way. Next
time he's interviewed, this leaves the door open for his host to inform him of Rove's lack of service.

27. Murtha is what LEADERSHIP looks like
Common sense coupled with conviction and courage to say what needs to be said with complete and utter authority. Watch how many people will long for this man to be house majority leader, I know I do. I'd even take him as speaker of the house over Pelosi any day -- I simply can't stand her. She's utterly ineffective -- she commands ZERO authority in the house. She was a joke Friday on the floor, mumbling and stuttering over such a serious debate, had no idea how to emphasize certain phrases and speak with conviction. Anyone who has to rely on their script in front of cameras ought to get the fuck out of politics. If you can't express yourself coherently off the top of your head over matters that are central to your fucking job, then they ought to get the fuck out of the way and let someone with a clue lead our party.

Can you tell how aggravated I am over our party's lame-ass leaders?

5. perfect! It's about time someone put it that bluntly.
he said something similar to that on the house floor during the time table debate, that no one so patriotically advocating to 'stay the course' was doing any of the fighting.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 11:59 AM by Danieljay
there's room for everyone and their freedom of opinion. That being said, Until Democrats and progessives realize that their representatives don't always agree with them 100%, we'll continue to be a fractured party and continue to lose elections to a party that can at least set their differences aside long enough to beat a common foe. Democrats could take a lesson or two from the Republican playbook.

16. I think Murtha learned what he knows the hard way.
He has always rallied around the government's military adventures, including the disasters in Central America. Now he's able to see the down side of such military adventures. I makes him all the more credible on these issues.

Murtha's a coward. Bwhahahahahaha.... from Murtha's bio:
he volunteered for Vietnam in 1966-67, receiving the Bronze Star with Combat "V", two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Yeah what a chickenshit :eyes:

37. Finally I heard someone dismiss Rove the way he should be dismissed

the Meet the Press format of playing the opposition's talking point clips along with the current guest's past statements to hipocracy is really starting to annoy me to the point of making the show unwatchable.
