9/11 Cop's Lung Death
9/11 COP'S LUNG DEATH

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/61110.htm

By MURRAY WEISS

January 7, 2006 -- A police detective has died from lung disease, which the NYPD believes he contracted while working at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks.

The tragedy makes James Zadroga, 34, the first rescue worker to die from illness attributed to the Ground Zero rubble, a police spokesperson said yesterday.

The Manhattan homicide detective retired in 2004 because of his disability. He died at his family's Jersey home yesterday.

"He was a hero, he disregarded his own health and life to rescue people at Ground Zero," said Michael Palladino, head of the Detectives' Endowment Association.

Zadroga, whose wife died two years ago from cancer at age 29, was in 7 World Trade Center when it started to collapse. He spent another 470 hours in the soot-filled wreckage.

One month after he returned to the Manhattan South precinct, Zadroga fell ill. Within two years, he developed "black lung disease," police said.

1. Our government lied to these people. They will continue to lie.
~snip~ EPA Administrator Christie Whitman announced today that results from the Agency's air and drinking water monitoring near the World Trade Center and Pentagon disaster sites indicate that these vital resources are safe.

"We are very encouraged that the results from our monitoring of air quality and drinking water conditions in both New York and near the Pentagon show that the public in these areas is not being exposed to excessive levels of asbestos or other harmful substances," Whitman said. "Given the scope of the tragedy from last week, I am glad to reassure the people of New York and Washington, D.C. that their air is safe to breath and their water is safe to drink," she added.

5. NY was attacked 2 times within a week. First by planes and then by the WH.
Lying to the rescue workers, the people who worked and lived in lower Manhattan was in my estimation, a crime. Meanwhile my two Senators sit on their hands about this.

2. What are they hiding
Whatever they were exposed to at Ground Zero, it had a heck of a punch. It has been less than
5 years and he's died from exposure. My grandfather was a miner, he died of asthma they called
it so the mines would not have to pay, it was really "black lung disease." But my grandfather
was in his seventies when he died from exposure and he worked in the mines for many years. My
mother died from smoking cigarettes, but she smoked 3 packs a day for 30 years. I say again,
what are they hiding?

3. Almost 5 years
and now this sort of thing is becoming more frequent every day.

I've got friends and family that worked in the pit. Nice cloud to have hanging over your head for the rest of your life.

9/11 Rescue Workers Rally For Long-Term Health Funding
June 17, 2006

Rescue workers and elected officials are asking the government to make a long-term commitment to the health needs of the thousands who worked at the World Trade Center site after the September 11th attacks.

A group called "Unsung Heroes for Heroes" is rallied Saturday at the site to demand a commitment from the federal government to pay for the long term monitoring and treatment of those rescue workers.

Some workers contracted serious breathing ailments and certain types of cancer from the toxic dust in the air around the site.

7. Thanks for letting us know Omm.
I'm always grateful to see news of Americans protesting what is being done (and has been done) to them.

8. Your welcome Shance. I lived in NYC most of my life, now live in a
suburb and get the NYC news. This story, every few months rears its head on local stations and my "Liberal" Democratic Senators do nothing about this. To keep this a dirty local secret and not let it get out there into the conscious of our country shows how MSM has been complicit in this crime.
