I wonder if Ann's church did the same, and if she helped out. Here's what Sam Waterston and others did (this article is from a cybernewspaper I edit and publish, so I have the right to copy it in full):
Sam and 9-11 Thanks, Mott, for the information!
(Ground Zero, just after September 11) Many of Sam's fans have wondered what he did in response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. An article in a suburban Chicago newspaper finally fills us in. It seems that Sam, along with actors Chevy Chase, Robert DeNiro, Ron Howard, Al Franken, Kevin Bacon, and Matthew Bodine, went down to Ground Zero to give moral support to the workers who were there sorting through the wreckage, trying to find survivors. But it was Sam who went up to the workers--and asked for their autographs! Typical Sam--doing important work where he can with no fanfare--and acknowledging the courage and heroism of others!
Note Al Franken was there. How interesting. He's also gone on USO tours in Iraq, right? How many has Mann Coulter been on?
Another project for you--in NYC, there were many benefits for raising funds for 911 victims and their families. Sam Waterston participated in one, a series of short, one act plays. There was also a dinner around Christmas time for the families of the fallen. If memory serves, Sam and Jerry Orbach attended this dinner to give comfort to the families. (Again, only found out through brief mentions in a newspaper article-neither gentleman was doing this to garner publicity for themselves.) You might wish to find out just what sort of things Mann Coulter did--after all, this would have been long before any 911 widow endorsed any political candidate, so she can't hide behind that.
