Question about "Godless"
Is there any proof for my suspicion (which I'm sure is shared by many fellow DUers) that this book (and other freeper tomes) is "helped" up the bestseller list by conservative book clubs and other promotional outlets who buy up tons of copies and then give them away in dollar deals (e.g. "get a free book when you sign up for a trial membership")?

2. I had a thought on that

somehow this reminds me of Pat Robertson's comment about Hugo Chavez and now Coulter saying
Murtha should be fragged, not at all in keeping with their roles as public figures, could
they have secret backing from someone else, like the neocons?

5. the NYT has a little icon after the books, which indicates that the books
are being bought in bulk.

6. There has been proof of this practice on other venues,
specifically the swiftboating of John Kerry in 2004, so speculation about this occuring now is completely justified.

9. mail-order membership book clubs are not counted in bestseller lists
The bestseller list, compiled by NYT, is from retail outlets. (including Amazon.com) But if you were to buy it from a subscription book club, those sales aren't included in the bestseller statistics. (I'm in publishing)

10. Conservative group selling copies at $4.99 ea.
I saw the ad somewhere on line. It advertised a $23.00 discount. That's how her trash gets on the best seller list.

12. to get actual proof together
might be difficult. the gopigs use cutouts alot in their schemes: being criminals, they know what 'cops' would look for, so they go outta their way to hide their dirty dealings. Fixing the success of an awful book like 'godless' would be easy, as vast numbers of people don't think of themselves as liberals to begin with, and the tricks to 'buy' the books would be too many to count, but you can be sure the same mentality that would do that has also reeked havoc in the public perception of what is or isn't popular. It's a fact that porno movies are as big moneymaker as regular movies, but this voting with pocketbook is simply ignored by the authoritahs, cuz it doesn't fit their game (though many of the hypocrites partake of the profits for sure)...same with drugs, booze, everything. Our societies aren't LED so much as ridden, like a bucking bronco, and putting blinkers on the bronco (not to mention controlling the things the bronco likes, and does) is 99 percent of what preoccupies the rider (don quixote, but a stupid, greedy, ugly, brutish and sneaky don quixote!) ...misrepresenting the coulter book as wildly popular is so easy the pigs do it w/out reflecting on it. The larger question is whether the gopigs also misrepresent what's popular in music, art, on tv, not to mention cars, compuuters, software etc.....that the authoritahs are criminals has been proven by iraq, watergate, vietnam, the jfk murder, october surprise, enron, junior bush etc. Proof (even Robert Kennedy's piece on the '04 election scam isn't 'proof' because, well the pigmedia just ignore it, like the DSM and like the exit polls and like diebolt's record etc) must be all over the place, just requiring someone to collate it, but, again, why bother? Look how Robert Kennedy's effort has been ignored....

13. Been done for years with conservative crap books,
As long ago as the 1968 presidential campaign, Nixon used his sluice fund to buy up large quanities of a RW screed called "The News Twisters". That way the book would go up the best seller list and the author (I don't remember the name), could get their fat mug on talk shows and bloivate about "liberal media", la de da de da. Hell, nowadays some big daddy money bags probably buys Anthrax's books, and recycles the pulp. Not that many people like her shit.
