9. Yes, the Brits are so much better and enlightened
in their own minds.

Last time I checked, the UK is a voluntary part and parcel of this Iraq fuck up. Not only that, they have a previous history of major fuck ups in the region. But if it makes them feel better, I'm sure they would do a better job than Rummy the Dummy. But that's not saying much.

to assist Bush's adventure in the Middle East.

29. Was it "the Yanks" who decided to invade Iraq, then?
I was one of the people protesting in the streets to stop the invasion.

Maybe both of the governments no longer abide by the wishes of the People.

35. Neither did, no people did
Only our bought and sold for leaders did.

Exeptions being "old europe" - probably for it's own opportunistic reasons, and certain 'rogue' nations such as Cuba and Venezuela.

24. In foreign policy terms
Britain has absolutely no international clout, and hasn't had for 60 years. For all intents and purposes Britain is the 51st state of the union.

In my view, there was nothing 'voluntary' about Britain being part of the coalition. Blair had no choice.

30. Since 80% of the British public opposed Blair's little adventure
I suppose they feel a bit more comfortable in that T-shirt than an American soldier might.

I think our numbers were in the 65% in favor of the invasion prior to the war starting.

Blair was not the impetus for this war. It was the Cheney administration, although Tony has certainly enabled the PNACers with his inflinching support. Thankfully, the British government will be rid of Blair in the next 12 months or so, due to his warmongering ways and the Brit's disapproval of his foreign policy disaster

31. 54% of the American public supported a war without UN support.
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 12:48 PM by tabasco
Due in large part to the most massive and injurious propaganda campaign in American history, perpetrated by a lying, criminal administration. Masses of people were led to believe that Iraq had something to do with 9-11. This is the worst fraud ever committed in America. But I will never deny the inexcusable gullibility of millions of Americans.

A horrendous number but not 65%.

Is your point that those of us always opposed to the war should feel more comfortable being called stupid by a British soldier?

The flag represents all Americans, not just the war supporters.

on edit: oops - here's the poll from before the war. (USA Today/CNN/Gallup)

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-03-16-poll-iraq_x.htm

Here is some info to clarify your claim of 80% UK opposition to the war as well:

32. Thanks for the poll correction
You are right. BTW, I was one of those millions protesting, so you are preaching to one of the members of the choir.

As the war hormones raged, and after the 'successful' invasion, the numbers went way up in the U.S....nothing like a football game mentality applied to war.

The fact remains that this is Bush's War and Americans allowed that prick to take office and millions voted for him--two times.

Blair is along for the ride, for whatever gain he thinks/thought it might be for him...guess that board seat on Carlyle has some nice perks.

With an arrow pointing to a picture or cartoon Bush head. And make them available in ten-packs, so we can slap them on any car that still has a "W" sticker.

36. Horrible idea...
Placing (unwanted) bumper stickers on the vehicles of others is vandalism. It can cost you money (e.g., fines, damages...) or your life, if you catch the wrong gun nut on the wrong day. Put 'em on your own car and share the rest with your circle of friends.
