Cheney scrawlings on Joe Wilson’s op-ed are the "blue dress"
Jane Hamsher believes the real target is Cheney and Rove gave Fitz what he wanted.

"...It’s become ever more apparent as time goes on and Fitzgerald releases bits of information in his filings that this was a Dick Cheney operation. Rove may have gotten involved because smearing people is his idea of a good time, but the Cheney scrawlings on Joe Wilson’s op-ed are the "blue dress" of this case. Look at Conrad Black. Look at George Ryan. I’m sorry, but Fitzgerald had Rove dead to rights if he wanted him, and anyone who thinks he got nothing for something has been following the story of a different prosecutor than I have been.

While there are certain to be those who are more focused on their next cruller than the facts and accuse Fitzgerald of wasting public time and money, several things need to be made clear:

1 We have no idea what Fitzgerald has, and anyone who pretends to know anything conclusive one way or the other about what he got from Rove and where he’s going with this is talking out their ass

2 Whatever it is he wanted from Rove, he obviously got it without going through a long expensive trial and putting the country through a media circus. That’s called being responsible, not a Ken Starr showboat.

3 David Johnston’s paragraph this morning in the New York Times that seemed to indicate the investigation was at an end is at best poorly written. Rove will most certainly not be off the hook completely until Libby has had his day in court. If Libby makes a deal with Fitzgerald and implicates Rove, all bets are off. Fitzgerald acknowledges that because justice was obstructed, he could not know exactly what happened. The investigation will remain open at least until the Libby matter is closed. That’s just how it works.

4 Rove is not in the clear, not by a long shot. The Wilsons have backed off on their civil suit in order to give Fitzgerald the room he needs to maneuver, but that will not last forever. Do you think Joe Wilson is interested in letting bygones be bygones with regard to Karl Rove? Send me your email, I just received a large inheritance in Nigeria and I need your help..."

1. This wouldn't be surprising at all, from a WH perspective
The one thing that the Monkey has that trumps anything the prosecutor can do is the power of the PARDON. And no doubt the bastard will use it, just like his deddy did with Cap Weinberger.

It's in the interest of the WH to let Rove sing and walk free to help the nefarious cause, let Libby fry (and then remain free pending appeal after posting a massive bond raised by his pals) and even drag Cheney into it, if needs must--but only AFTER the November elections.

Pardons are probably already pre-prepared, and carried about in the same briefcase they keep the fucking 'football codes' in!!!!!

3. I think all of this is playing right into KKKarl's hands.
This bunch has bar set so low for what is unacceptable behavior that even if Rove is implicated in the whole affair, the Bushbots will give him a pass. KKKarl doesn't care what happens as long as he can get to November with the Kool Aid drinkers into the voting booth. And no, I don't think it was an accident that the Scooter's trial is set for AFTER the elections.

Rove & the Cabal have just one goal in mind right now - get through the mid-terms in November without any major blow-ups within the White House. I actually think they find Fitzgerald an amusing little distraction that plays along with their plans. Keep the power by any means necessary, even if it means throwing Scooter under the bus, dangling Rove and/or Cheney as sacrificial lambs or use an illegal war killing young people as a means to divide and conquer. Keep everyone looking the other way until after the elections then pardons will blanket the land, oil companies will get richer, tax breaks will abound, and the war will continue so that Chucklenuts & Dead Eye gets their last cent of dirty money in to their bank account before leaving office in 2008. The GOP is the vehicle they are using to obtain all of their goals and the GOP party will be trashed (just like everything else) when it is time for the Deadly Duo to head back to the "ranch" and the new house on Chesapeake Bay.

I'm thinking the repugs are going to find out the hard way what we all have known all along - this administration doesn't care about anyone or anything as long as Chimpy and Dead Eye get theirs. They are set for life if they can get past November 2006. Just keep the subpoena power away from the Dems and the pardon pen handy and all will be well. After that the country AND the GOP can all go to hell as far as Chucklenuts and Dead Eye are concerned. They got theirs - screw the rest of the world.

4. Something is not right here...

Leopold predicting indictment of Rove and quite adamant about it from Truthout.org (reputable site)

Then, poof! KKKarl not indicted.

Then poof! Valerie Plame ditches her publisher. Hmmm.

The Wilson delay their civil suit against Rove. Again, Hmmmm.....

This all happens within the same timeframe. Did Fitz hold a sealed indictment over KKKarl's head because he wanted Cheney? I don't know, but KKKarl didn't lose all that weight and hair for nothin! It hung over his head for what? 3 years? Then he appears before the GJ for the 5TH TIME! No person is appearing 5 times for sh*ts and giggles. Maybe the reason was for Fitz to get the scoop on Cheney.

Something tells me this isn't over yet. Fitz' pattern has always been to get to the "big fish."

I wish I could think of other "coincidences" that have occurred to we could crack this case

edit: added stuff
