Kerry on progressive principles:

• Tell the truth to the American people.

• “Fire the incompetents” and hold government accountable.

• Make America secure by making America energy independent.

• “Value work, not wealth.”

• Export products, not jobs.

• Provide affordable health care for all Americans.

• Address global warming and the pollution of our air and water.

Fact: The Republicans will never get there, and aren't even trying!

7. Cut and Run Republicans!
...They cut and run from the truth. They cut and run from common sense. They cut and run from planning. They cut and run from their obligation...

3. "clear"?
The democratic party supported a good part of that, by voting for the funding and the war powers.

It is behind imperialism just as much as the republican party.

Just because we are in opposition (we the anything but bush voters), we can pretend
that "we" are democrats, and they stand for ending imperialism and the drugs war,
and and... but really, its a wish founded on half truths.

Good power to Kerry and the progressive democrats, but the vichy dems are still there
and they still believe in the big lie. Then it's anything but clear.

8. The Democratic Party did not support a "good part of that."
Sorry, but that's completely false!

9. Ok, then who paid for it?
Who authorizes the payments, who authorized the warmaking, ?

Who stood behind the drugs war that has corrupted and destroyed
several south ameirican countries and still destablizes today
with corruption, several nations plagued with terrorism due to
the drugs laws..

The democrats have stood by and been party to some crimes, and the
war in iraq is definitely unrepented, for all your "clarity".

Unrepented that iraq needs to have permanent bases, unreprented
or they'd block and scream. Say whatever propaganda you want, the
dems are a better and smarter party, i agree, but the halo's unwarranted.

10. You can argue these issues, but the two parties are completely different!
There are a lot of Democrats who have fought and continue to fight consistently on strong Democratic principles. There are a lot of people within the party who support a spectrum of liberal values, but on one issue or another lean conservative. The thing is that the one issue isn't always the same, and a handful lean conservative on a couple of issues. That's the reality. For the most part, Democrats are united on a number of core issues. Ignoring reality is what continues to give the Republicans the edge. People know, or should know if they're paying attention to this Congress, that Republicans do no support ANY liberal values. They lie and they use whatever tactics necessary to get what they want.

IMO, the country is more liberal and may become more liberal still, but for now it's important to take the Republican advantage away.

The goal should not be to weaken the Democratic Party by spewing RW talking points about both parties being the same. The goal should be to strengthen the party by electing more Democrats who will fight on principle. More important, the goal should be to take the country back from the Republicans because Democratic values will never be advanced by Republicans.

Reality sucks! That's not propaganda. You assigned the halo, not me!

11. Spewing right wing talking points
I'm voting dem, i support the dems. I'm just sayin' that your audience has not just
fallen off the pumpkin truck, and a little more honesty wouldna hurt.

Ok, lets look at dem policies that i'm at odds with, just to check in why i should
feel good.

1. drugs war. - grade: "F+"
2. war - Grade "D"
3. Patriot act - Grade "F"
4. Election voting counting - Grade "F"

The democratic party has some odd, pissed off allies right now, because i am here
to make sure the dems replace the republicans. I support that. And i don't
want to have to hold my nose at the centrism, for all the promise.

I support progressive democrats, it means i love fantasy, and am in willing denial
that the party is not really progressive, but classically liberal, a nicer face to
the capitalist imperialism, but not really.

I think part of the reason is that we can't be honest about that the party is
beyond ABB, and now dealing with the prospect of coming back to power on a
"not republican" platform. I'm all for it, but if the sales-pitch comes from
honesty rather than bullshit, i'll be a happier voter. My bullshit meter is
pretty sensitive these days after all the BULL, i've had to trade in wellies
for waders its so thick... but at least, between us registered Democrats, i'd
appreciate some truth, some down to earth fucking honesty and then i'll at least
know that its not just another neo-<something> marketing handjob for more of the
same...

"Forget what you just heard and go back to sleep." - miracle mile.

12. OP was to oppose the RW talking point; didn't say you were spewing it!
Again you can argue all those issues, but it doesn't make the parties the same.

Fighting to elect progressive Democrats is key, but Republicans, moderates and Independents exist. As long as they do, trying to achieve a more progressive Congress is an ongoing fight!

13. Agreed
I'm open to hearing from Democrats who were pro-war, a sort of mea-culpa,
beyond kerry, from the vichy wing of the party, so we can clearly put the
war between uz and the republicans by november.

Some specific moral ground can't be won by pretending the pro-war dems
were not ascendent. It can be won by those persons coming down to earth
and apologizing that they were WRONG, and that they realize their party
is smarter than they were, and that they would like us to forgive them
and move forward in ending all the wars by eliminating the republican threat.
