Campbell Brown: Bush has his "mojo" back...Carville NAILS her!!!!
Campbell Brown kissing Bush ass that this was the best week he could hope for and even said, I shit you not, his "mojo" is back.

Carville responded with "this is the biggest 1% increase in ratings in the history of the nation. If Bush was at 40% Norah O'Donnell would be leading a parade."

25. They have been beating the "mojo drum" 24 X 7.
All that has happened is that one guy was killed and another cleared from being indicted.

4. "Hurray! He's not stupid or incompetent anymore!"
It's like the media was waiting for one mildly positive thing to happen so that they could get down on their knees in front of him again. ABC even ran a positive interview with blowhole Rove this morning. Ewwww!

5. I can't help but wonder if Campbell Brown even KNOWS what a
mojo is, where it comes from, or how it works. If she did know, then she would not be bragging about it WORKING for Bush. If he REALLY had a working mojo, his ratings would be out of the roof right now.

These Republicans can say the most stupid things when they use terminology that comes from another culture that they do not understand in an effort to seem "cool."

15. It's appalling that someone who bears a large part of the
responsibility for the death and destruction of New Orleans is bragging about having mojo.

Mojo
Mojo is from Black English, first recorded in the mid-1920s. It is common throughout the South. The earliest recorded usages are in reference to the blues and jazz music. The meaning has always been magic, charm, or amulet or more broadly the power and influence derived from such a supernatural source.

It is probably African in origin. Gullah (the dialect of the South Carolina Atlantic islands) has the word moco meaning witchcraft or magic. And the Fulani language of Africa has the word moco'o meaning a shaman.

8. After that response from Carville, Campbell goes into poll defense mode
She tried to interrupt Carville a couple of times and then she finally said (paraphrasing)

Well, the poll came out after Zarqawi's death but before Rove was cleared of the indictment and before *'s trip to Iraq.

Carville comes back with something like, Oh, well that's great the President's closest advisor wasn't indicted.

It's like watching Fox and Friends in the morning now on NBC.

See:

The talking points memo was sent by Rove, recieved, and being used by the RW flacks.

12. I weep for my country!
Considering the death and destruction that is going on all around them, the MSM reaches deep into their emotional core to search for the right words to describe the heart-wrenching, desperate, important, challenging current events of our time

and comes up with a line from the movie "Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me"

The dumbing down of America is complete.

Could you imagine Walter Conkrite getting that devistating news from Dallas, turning to the camera and saying; "well, America has just lost it's Mo-Jo"?

28. They started using it May 30 - NYT, DJ newswires
Their organized use of "mojo" is first attributed to Josh Bolten in various articles, apparently originating (big surprise!) with the NY Times article which was picked up elsewhere the followoing day.

NYT article at another site:

http://freeinternetpress.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=7063

Dow Jones Newswire version:

http://wiadomosci.onet.pl/1331475,10,1,0,120,686,item.html

These uses are buried down a bit in the article, standard procedure when building buzz to support talking points.

This week (following Zarqawi's conveniently-timed murder, Camp David photo-op, Bush trip to Iraq), right on cue we get Larry Kudlows laying it all out - "Bush Regains His Mojo" -- and lots of exactly the same.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/realclearpolitics/20060614/cm_rcp/bush_regains_his_mojo_by_larry

I don't have time to track if further.

Most of the other use of "mojo" is in connection with sports or marketing, but of course this is marketing.
