Chris Matthews asks "Do you find her physically attractive, Tucker?"
MSNBC's Not-So-Hot For Ann Coulter
— Tue, Jun 13, 2006 —

http://www.jossip.com/gossip/ann-coulter/msnbcs-notsohot-for-ann-coulter-20060613.php

Ann Coulter has been slammed from the right and left, and not in the horse-faced blonde sandwich way. Ever since her Matt Lauer interview on the Today show where she lambasted the wives of 9/11 victims, even Larry King rose from his inaudible soapbox, last night inviting a "Jersey Girl" on his show and replaying a clip from Sept. 12, 2001, where the wife of a WTC worker aired her grief live.

But over on MSNBC, the news anchors debated an issue much more pressing: Coulter's Hot or Not factor. From June 9th's Hardball:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Do you find her physically attractive, Tucker?

TUCKER CARLSON: I'm not going to answer that, because the answer, I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. That's not the point.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Positively.

RITA COSBY: Don't ask me that question.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Mike, do you want to weigh in here as an older fellow. Do you find her to be a physically attractive woman?

MIKE BARNICLE: I'm too old to be doing that. I had enough fights in my life.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: OK, Rita, do you find her to be a physically attractive woman?

RITA COSBY: I'll throw it back to you, Chris, do you find her attractive?

CHRIS MATTHEWS: You guys are all afraid to answer. No, I find her—I wouldn't put her—well, she doesn't pass the Chris Matthews test.

2. LOL, the Chris Matthews test.
This was a guy who thought Katherine Harris was "a very attractive woman." All I can say is his standards aren't that high when it comes to feminine pulchritude, and his standard get lower with each drink he takes.

As for Tucker Carlson, she probably doesn't have the right "equipment" to interest him.

5. What the Hell is the matter with these people?
The problem is Ann Coulter's looks it is her conduct. Why would any news operation have several of its leading anchors discussing the attractiveness, or lack thereof, of anyone? That isn't news. It isn't even all that interesting. It is sexist claptrap. Does anyone, anywhere, speculate on the attractiveness of the likes of Ken Melman?

9. That's the embarrassment known as "Hardball Hotshots"...
MSNBC found out that its serial killer / prison documentaries got higher ratings on Friday nights than the post-"Countdown" shows, so they gathered up Tucker, Rita and Joe and dubbed them "The Hardball Hotshots" and stuck them on Tweety's show as a "guest panel."

So in addition to Tweety's basic "I can't believe he just said that" foot-in-mouth disease (like asking if Bush can "regain his sunny nobility"), we have the added treat of his own little Greek Chorus. Rita Cosby is usually the one who lands with the loudest thud...if Tweety doesn't beat her to it.

:patriot:

13. This harpie wears leather mini skirts in the morning.
Low cut blouses may be comfortable, but leather mini skirts are not. She thinks she's sexy, and shoves those swizzle stick legs into every camera she finds. She's begging people to notice her broomstick figure, and Matthews is just obliging. It's fair game.

To quote a really bad cliche "She's asking for it."

AFAIC, anything to belittle her is good.

But I agree w/you - I still feel a little bad for anyone who's subject to the "Hot or Not" game on national TV. Are they debating O'Reilly's attractiveness? Why does this matter? Matthews made me feel sorry for Ann Coulter & that's unforgiveable!

48. I agree with you.
As if whether she is "attractive" is relevant on a "news" show. A more relevant question is, how unattractive is Rita Cosby's voice? Obviously, nobody ever asked viewers whether they thought Neil Cavuto's looks were suitable for TV, before giving him his own show. Or Lou Dobbs' looks? x(

I'm generally sick of Ann Coulter, but here's my favorite anagram of ANN COULTER : NO CLUE RANT

MATTHEWS: Let's go to this sub--what happened to this week, which was to me was astounding as a student of politics, like all of us. Lights, camera, action. This week the president landed the best photo op in a very long time. Other great visuals: Ronald Reagan at the D-Day cemetery in Normandy, Bill Clinton on horseback in Wyoming. Nothing compared to this, I've got to say.

MATTHEWS: I want him to wa--I want to see him debate somebody like John Kerry or Lieberman or somebody wearing that jumpsuit.

46. No one asked "emotionally attractive."
As an ugly person myself, I get tired of being judged. The fact is that Coulter could pass as reasonably attractive physically, but has the personality of Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS. But of course Tweety and Company couldn't discuss that...they had to make the kind of jokes that Eric Cartman would have made.
