"They've (Democrats) laid off (*)" re: criticism of war...MSNBC

female counterpart to the Randy guy (don't know his name cause I usually never watch them till KO is on) speaking about this press conference. The concensus of these two was that * addressed his critics and they've stepped back and said "it's a win for him."

1. So now we're damned if we do, and damned if we don't
wake me when the situation changes . . .

2. To borrow from Napoleon Bonaparte
- "What is history but a fable agreed upon?" -

What will be the history of Iraq is the invasion of Iraq but a fable agreed upon?

The moral of the story?
The truth sounds nice in principle but the practice is another matter.

America is fine tuning it's Iraq fable. We're witnessing, and have been witnessing since the start, the honing of history regarding Iraq. It doesn't even have to be written as a win...as long as it can be written as "partisan"(the "left" believes one thing/the "right" believes another)....in fact, partisan is better for politicians...keeps the divide going and allows the liars to get away with their lies. If the "truth" is simply a matter of the "D" or "R" after your name, then there is no real truth...just belief...mere partisan opinion. No one's right and no one's wrong. And if no one's wrong and no one's right then no one is accountable. (and that's very convenient, yes?)

That there is a truth has no bearing on this reality.

But wouldn't it be nice if it did?

3. Face it folks -
as long as the media serves as a mouthpiece for Bushco, Democrats will not be able to get their message to the people. How much coverage did Kerry's amendment get? None.

5. Push on the other Democrats to open their mouths and be heard.
If the Dem's don't address this loudly, we are going to lose more elections in November.

4. I don't by that assessment. We need to demand that Bush explain
his reasoning and his definition of victory. He is out promoting a war using nothing more that talking points. We can call him and Rove out on their real lack of a plan. Basically, they are stating we need to stay the course. What exactly is new with that stand? And, why should we trust this administration when they haven't gotten right yet?

6. * addressed his critics as a 2 years old having a tantrum on the floor
addresses the parent's demand to stop. "But I wanna!" is not "addressing anything.
The disaster continues as the MSM plays second fiddle to Nero - but people do see the fire.
