"If you tell a lie often enough and loud enough, it will eventually be accepted as truth."
Everything they do is based on this one statement and with the complicity of the media, they have the forum to push what they say and pound it into the heads of the American people. They hedge their bets that no matter how outrageous their lies are, people will eventually believe.
So the truth means nothing to them and telling lies, making shit up - it's like a game. Let's see if we can make this one stick! Let's see how many people will buy into it. That's exactly what we're seeing right now with Bush's Iraq Tour and his press conference in the Rose Garden. He was asked by what percentage the violence must decrease in order to be successful. Without hesistation, the idiot said the violence isn't connected to success, they're focusing on politics and the new government - that's what will determine success. Can't let a handful of killers determine the outcome.
So in the coming weeks and months, Republicans will gleefully parrot this new lie over and over and over, building up to a crescendo right before the election. We have won, Iraq is a success - regardless of the violence and killing. HOWEVER - we must stay there to weed out the "handful of killers" (led by Zarqawi's successor) even though we've won. We'll even bring home a few troops - that oughta shut up the Democrats.
I just hope at this late date, their strategy of lies and doublespeak has worn thin and the American people wise up to it.
I'd like to believe they're actually doing something for a change but I don't. It's all politics, always has been.
