And in other news...I could not be giddier about James Webb
I think last night in Virginia was the first concrete evidence that the wave of the "Reagan Revolution" has finally broken and is heading back to sea. When was the last time anyone heard of a Southern conservative military man turn renounce the GOP and join the Democrats? Well, we nominated one for the Senate last night.

And I think he's going to cause George Allen headaches:

"I supported George Allen six years ago because I thought he'd provide leadership," Webb told a cheering crowd in a Crystal City hotel. "I'm still waiting for the first concrete example."

"It's time to welcome home those Democrats who left for a time, the Reagan Democrats, the conservative Democrats, whatever labels we give them," Webb said. "It's time to welcome them home."

Of course, he's broke. But that can change in a hurry.

1. Oh yes, George Allen will have some "headaches"...
I think Webb will give him a real problem in population rich areas like NOVA and Hampton Roads.

2. His odds are winning are long, but I love the message of the nomination
We had the choice between an insider/lobbyist and a sincere convert. We chose the convert.

3. Conservative
Are you saying you want conservatives to run as Democrats?

People like Zell Miller,etc?

Are you espousing a conservative Democratic party?

Not for me.

5. Not a chance in hell...
that Virginia would elect a Ted Kennedy or a Russell Feingold. We take what we can get. We have got to take our best shot at getting the racist asshat George Allen out of office.

I don't anticipate agreeing with Jim Webb 100% of the time, but I'll take him over George Allen anyday.

Remember, Chuck Robb wasn't exactly a foaming at the mouth liberal.

6. Democrats win by being a coalition.
We need a more centrist crowd that is disenchanted with the Republican Party to come with us.

7. I want the Reagan Democrats back
I want all the marginally conservatives we've lost over the past 30 years back.

8. doesn't matter this year, as long as there's a "D" after the name
they have declared war on us. We need to wake up and hit back. We'll deal with individual issues later.

4. Even though I live in Illinois and have no stake in this election,
I hope to God you're right about Webb v. Allen.

Post a link to his campaign and I'll give Mr. Webb what I can afford right now.

George Allen has to go back to the cave he crawled out of.
