You basically took a bet that "the Seahawks will win the Superbowl" except that even that event could have been predicted based on information about strengths, weaknesses, and past performance, etc.

So he basically called heads and claimed that anyone who called tails would look silly if it came up heads.

He made you look silly only because you took a silly bet.

People sure do spend alot of time trying to guess or predict what is going to happen. I prefer to analyze what actually has happened or acting to prevent things that they admit to (the Iraq war drums which started beating in 2002, the promised tax cuts for the wealthy, public plans to dismantle social security, etc.) I do not believe in crystal balls, neither yours nor alibiades-mystery's. Put another way, 'there's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip'.

And it certainly seems odd that so many Rove cheerleaders from yesterday now feel the need to reinforce his innocence and continue to bash Leopold.

on DU "cheerleading" Rove or trying to reinforce his "innocence". Methinks you're reading posts on a forum that exists in an alternate universe. In other words, nonsense. There is Leopold bashing going on, and though it may sometimes be over the top, it's certainly not undeserved. Both this story and his prior history with Salon, don't speak well of his journalistic integrity. It's a shame. Personally, I never bought into the Leopold story simply because no other journalist backed it up. A single source isn't good enough for me. Not buying into the Leopold story, however, does not mean I think Rove is innocent or that I'm cheering for him. Far from it. As far as looking silly goes, you've done a masterful job of it.

Go back and read many of these posts carefully. They weren't just bashing Leopold, they were also advancing the idea that there was no evidence against Rove. Even the mainstream news didn't go as far as many of the posters here yesterday.

I'm sure someone like yourself who is careful in looking at evidence will want to take the time to review those posts carefully.

you believed something because you wanted to, and that's human. Nobody is right 100% of the time, and it could be them looking "silly" next week, so rock on, and don't lose faith.
