Rove is a munchkin and Leopold a political rumor meister.

I don't give a damn about either one. We have an election to win. Step away from the computer for awhile and stuff envelopes, walk precincts, make phone calls, or perform other useful work for the candidate of your choice.

PLEASE.

1. You may need that "political rumor-rag" in the future
Are you speaking for your candidate here? Does Clark want his supporters to attack the liberal press? Maybe you should think about how you represent your candidate while you're stuffing envelopes and walking precincts.

4. I am speaking only for myself.

I can't imagine what I'd ever need for, or Clark would ever need it for.

However, I did edit my subject line after reviewing the Truthout website briefly. I've never been there before, and will probably never go there again as they have raised doubts in my mind as to their worth and integrity relative to other news sources. However, I was basing my opinion only on one article by a discredited reporter, and perhaps...and only perhaps, that was somewhat unfair. They do appear to have some legitimate and factual articles, but that's not enough to convince me of their integrity and overall worth (if any) in the larger scheme of things. Certainly I won't be bookmarking the site anytime soon.

One precinct walker can help us win one more election than Truthout, that much I do know.

3. Truth out can help us win elections.
Truthout may have erred, but its record over time is a very good one. There is good solid information on the site every day, and if they made one big mistake I am not one to castigate them for it.

Dan Rather may have made a mistake too, but by dwelling on a small error the press, including many of those who should have known better missed the larger story, which was still solid enough with regard to Bush's National Guard record that it should have been important.

If we demand perfection from out leaders, we will soon have no leaders. Truthout remains a good website with solid information and insightful analysis almost all the time.

The right doesn't seem to hold their spokespersons to any standards at all, and they more idiots spouting hateful inanity than any sane person can credit. We don't need to, and can't go that far, but we still need to cut some of the people and institutions that have been doing outstanding work over time some slack.

5. Oh, I don't think so
Maybe that site will have some use of some kind - I have no idea what - but it lacks any kind of credibility, and any smart leftie would do well to distance him/herself from it starting about a month ago. It's a liability, without any presently discerible value.

Forget what the right requires, and let's define ourselves as ourselves, get our Democratic candidates to formulate powerful and seductive platforms, and then let's get out there and win some elections.

I voted for a winner today - Jim Webb in Virginia - and it felt wonderful.

Forget truthout. It's best left behind. There are better sites out there without the bad baggage. That's just a hard reality of how the process has to work. Loyalty has its place, but truthout has been nothing but disloyal to its followers - keep that in mind.
