HEADLINE: US officials seeing new home-grown terror cells
Strange that concerns about attacks inside the US "gather pace" every election year. Hey, Chimpolini, I thought we were in Iraq so we wouldn't have to "fight them on our shores"???

=====

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. intelligence and law enforcement authorities are discovering new home-grown cells of Islamist radicals in the United States that draw inspiration and moral support from al Qaeda, officials said on Tuesday.

Like local terrorism cells that have recently come to light in Canada and Europe, officials said the groups are comprised of disaffected young men in their teens and 20s who rely on the Internet to try to organize and plan potential attacks on the U.S. homeland.

Concern about attacks inside the United States gathered pace after the arrest earlier this month in Canada of 17 men -- all Canadian citizens or residents -- accused of planning al Qaeda-inspired attacks across densely populated southern Ontario.

Scott Redd, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said in a written statement to the Senate that the emergence of home-grown terrorist groups is posing "real challenges" for U.S. authorities despite law enforcement successes at disrupting potential attacks.

2. And they're using the Internet to organize. The Internet must be bad.
I'm afraid I can see exactly where they're going with this...

I belong to DU. My library records are full of radical items. I send money to the county Dem organization every year.

Oh, wait. I am white and Catholic.

4. This is propaganda...preparing us...
...for the next terror attack that will happen before the end of the year.

This way, they can say that they knew about it. They can claim that they were
concerned and trying to thwart an attack.

They'll point to articles, such as this one, and say that they were "On the job."

I feel America is one big airplane that is about to crash land, and the pilot is
saying, "Brace! Brace! Brace!" A disaster feels imminent. Who knows if that disaster
will be catastrophic, or only cause a few cuts and bruises.

It just feels like something major is coming down the pike. Sorry, but that's what I'm sensing.

9. I am starting to have vivid nightmares...
...about terrorist attacks.

I certainly don't sit around thinking about this stuff. I don't live in fear.

However, my subconscious must sense that something is amiss.

It spooks me sometimes.

:(

6. They're just going to point at vegetarians/vegans,
enviromentalists, animal rights people, and pacifists. Anyone who's against violence must be a terrorist, right?

7. Election coming - raise the fear level - Boogie, boogie
Will we fall for it again? Some will. More will put 2+2 together and actualy be able to get 4.
BTW - hasn't that thing in Canada turned out to be pretty much a farce?
