will make hay with it. As if frustration is a 'bad' thing. Damn.
edit: on Larry King...sorry wasn't specific.

But it probably doesn't play all that well to those not involved in the discussion. And that's unfortunate.

5. Al Gore is doing a fine job! He remains cool and calm in spite of
having had the election and his votes stolen from him. That takes a real man. America will never forget that about Gore.

The Chimp would have committed suicide if their roles were switched.

our own perspective which isn't necessarily held by a lot of less-informed people, many of which vote.

13. Don't forget Gore won the popular vote. * had to get the Supremes
to stop the vote count in Florida to win the state and the WH without the popular vote. Those voters were not uninformed, they wanted Gore not the faux cowboy.

20. Yep, you're right. But there were enough bushbot types "voting"
that stealing the election was relatively easy and painless (for those with the wherewithal to do it.)

I've agonized for 6 1/2 years wondering what I might have done to help prevent the debacle we're stuck with.

39. I've long thought they goofed in FL2000-- they didn't 'give' W a large
enough edge.

Therefore it was clear that really strange stuff was going on; so much was being examined and questioned. The 5-4 vote handed them a win.

BUT they learned from this 'mistake'; in 2004 they made sure W had a big enuff edge in OH and the country ('well, W WON the popular vote, ya know') that it was/is much harder to make a case that the election was stolen. AND the M$M was not examining everything and talking about the election 24/7 like they did in FL2000. The margin of W's 'win' in OH was so great it was much harder to make a case that there were major problems with the 'results' and that Kerry should fight.

We at DU, with the help of many such as truthisall, know there were major problems with everything connected with the vote in OH, BUT the margin of the 'win' for W makes it difficult for many to see.

when the Bushes were dining together and got up and left in horror when they got word that Gore was winning? Poppy or Barb jumped on Jebby saying something like, "You were supposed to fix it."

Chimp could not have taken the defeat, he would have done something rash, like suicide.

36. A few days before the 2000 election, Smirk's camp promised to do that
Right before election day, the polls were so close that some of the media was speculating that Gore would win an electoral victory but Smirk would win the popular vote. Smirk's campaign told the press that if that happened, they would mount a huge PR campaign to declare Gore's Presidency illegitimate, get the American public to hate Gore, and move to impeach him for not winning the popular vote.

You don't have to wonder. They promised to do it.

35. Hangin' in there, gonna go flyin' wit my doc next week
he's been begging me to ride along for 2 years now, he has a BE55 (which I think he really doesn't know how to drive). I caught a bit about that wreck at the Knight apt but didn't know what kinda plane it was...what little I did catch led me to think it was a 172-type. Harumph, guess it was more machinery than I thought. Bummer. I lived in Tampa for 15 years but rarely flew out of there, mostly from the Dolly Parton hangar at TPA.

40. Dolly Parton .. ?
Her hangar or that tit-like tent just east of 36R? I think I know the answer. That thing has been there a long time. I remember refueling a Lear 25 there in a rainstorm in the late 70s. We came out of Stuart Beach heavy and had to do an immediate refuel to make KIAH, across the Gulf, legally. That LR-25's CJ-610s sucked the fuel.

Seems like we re-fueled that LR-25 under thet tent in '78 or '79. But, I had many more fuelings there (LR-25, LR-55, FFJ-20, L-1329).

48. It might have been in 79 but for sure not before March of that year
'cause that's when I moved there and I watched it being built. I had an office just a few blocks east of it on Lois Avenue (didn't do any flying for the first year or so in Tampa).

50. I beat TPA up in the B-737 and MD-80.
I was down there so much, I started to run for mayor (old pilot joke). The pre-symptoms of one of my most significant in-flight emergencies began at TPA (ratty old MD-80). I could not get start pressure for #2 engine start from either the APU or crossbleed at the gate (low-power on #1). I single-engined taxied to a spot where I could do hi-power run-up of #1 to get enough duct pressure to start #2.

Later in the flight (over WVa), we experienced a total loss of pressurization. I did a high-dive to 10,000 feet. We landed PIT with no problems. Made CNN that night! It was all connected to that hell-hole plumbing!

I kept expecting him to spit it onto the floor afterwards (and indeed there is a photo of him doing just that, on the White House lawn). I suppose his handlers told him to just swallow it.

You know, if Gore had done anything like that, I probably wouldn't have noticed because I would be busy focusing on what he was telling us. With Bush, there is plenty of time to notice this sort of stuff because he says so very little!

OH YEAH. That was the last time we saw solicitous, polite Bush. He had so little to say, he was desperate to run the clock out. Every time a moderator would clear his thoat, shift in his seat, Dubya would pounce, bright-eyed.

"Huh? Yes, you were saying?"

"Oh no, please continue."

"No, no. Please, go ahead."

"Oh no, governor. I didn't mean to interrupt. Continue, please."

"Okay, sorry. Thank you."

but i think you're right. something like 90% of communication is non-verbal. they'll make hay with it because they should, it's a terrible public speaking habit and I'm surprised he didn't kick a long time ago. it did terrible things for him in the 2000 debates, it was quite frustrating to watch. however, with a little practice, can be easily overcome.

then again, maybe he won't enter the race.
